Police in the Scottish Borders are appealing for the help of the public to trace a 45-year-old woman reported missing from Melrose.

Michelle Pettie has been missing from the Eildon Crescent area of the town since Tuesday, 6 September, 2022.

She is described as white, around 5ft 3 in height, of slight build with dyed red/auburn hair. Michelle is believed to have been wearing a black jacket and jeans.

Inspector David Robertson of Melrose Police Station said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Michelle’s welfare and are asking for the public's assistance to help trace her.

“Her family are extremely worried about her and just want to know that she is safe and well.

“Michelle is known to frequent the Galashiels area and was reported to have been seen there near the shops on Hawthorn Road around 9am on Friday, 9 September.

“If you think you may have seen Michelle or have any information as to her whereabouts, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police via 101 quoting incident number 1749 of 5 September, 2022.

Police searching for a missing woman in the Borders have confirmed a body has been found.

The grim discovery was made in the River Tweed near Melrose yesterday (Sunday).

It's close to the spot where Michelle Pettie was last seen. The 45-year-old was reported missing from her home in the town's Eildon Crescent more than a fortnight ago.

 

THE body of a woman found in the River Tweed last month has been formally identified as missing person Michelle Pettie.

Officers say the death is being treated as 'unexplained' and enquiries remain ongoing.
