Missing man Nicholas Harper: police keen to trace owner of silver estate car that was parked near his car at Cowhouse Wood, Helmsley
Officers are keen to trace the owner of a silver estate car which was seen parked in the same area where Nicholas’ car was located. It is believed this car was parked on the morning Nicholas went missing and also for a couple of mornings beforehand and it may be that the driver has seen or heard something which may assist with the investigation.

If he left home at 7am to go to school , how long is his commute ? Where his car has been found , is that anywhere on his route . He’s thought to be in a suit , so would not have gone running ? What time do teachers normally arrive at school , would he have time to run first thing , then shower , can’t see you’d not shower and put a suit straight back on after running.

Here is a new photo of missing Nicholas Harper along with a photo of a blue, waterproof coat that he may be wearing. It is also possible that he is wearing running clothing, however, this cannot be confirmed.

Searches for Nicholas have been continuing today in the rural area north of Helmsley after his car was found parked at Cowhouse Woods.

Officers and volunteer search and rescue teams have been searching the area over the weekend with the help of police search dogs, drone cameras and the National Police Air Service helicopter. Specialist police search teams have been in the area today along with the police drone.

Nicholas is an “ultra” runner and can run long distances, we are therefore appealing to outdoor enthusiasts who believe they may have seen Nicholas over the weekend, to please contact us along with anyone who is out and about in the area today.

We would also like to appeal directly to Nicholas: "Nicholas, your family, friends and colleagues are beside themselves with worry, if you see or hear this appeal, please contact us, your family or friends and let us know that you are safe.”

Nicholas is described as white, 5ft 5ins tall and of stocky build with dark brown short hair and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a three piece suit and shirt but may have changed into running clothes and may be wearing a blue waterproof jacket.

If anyone believes they have seen Nicholas or has any information that could help the search, please call North Yorkshire Police on 101. Incident number 12190023491

Why would you go out in a suit and change into running gear before school , surely you’d take suit in car and wear running stuff from leaving home. Wouldn’t have thought he could shower at school , so if he did run first thing you’d pop back home to shower and put your suit on then at home.

Who saw him last in a suit , at 7am and where? You don’t get up first thing and put a suit on then change for running (if the last sight of him was morning )

Looks like he's gone out well of his way to go to that particular spot. It's not on the road to York whatsoever, he's chosen to go there intentionally instead of going to work.

I’m not good with linking things on maps, presume if he wasn’t intending to go to school he would have phoned in (even pretending to be sick if he wanted a day off) could he possibly have time if he left home at 7 drove there for a run and then get to school in time for start of day ? (It sounds more like he’s in his suit and drives there early to meet someone quickly before going onto school )

I don't think so. It's nearly an hours drive from that carpark to school, traffic depending. Most high schools start around 8:20/8:30 and most teachers are in way before that. EDIT - his school starts at 8:40am

To add to that, the car park where his car was found is a 17 mile / 30 minute drive from home, and in the opposite direction to his place of work. There's no way he'd have gone up there if he was intending to get to school.

I think whatever Nicholas has done, it was intentional. Surprised he's not been found as they've done a wide search, but then he's known for walking / running so my gut feeling is he has parked up and headed to a favourite spot.

It is possible he did not intend to go running before school but afterwards. Maybe the family knows he has a change of clothes in his car that's why they're not sure what exactly he's wearing now. I wonder if the suit was left behind in the car?

Is it possible his work day started later on this particular day? Maybe he wasn't teaching full time?

Wife of missing man from Pickering appeals for information
Rachael, appealing directly to the public for information about her husband’s whereabouts, said:

“The boys and I, and all of Nick’s family and friends, miss him desperately.

“I would ask anyone who thinks they have any information that might help us to find Nick, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to please contact the police.”

Great Broughton is 11 miles north (as the crow flies) of where his car was found. He could easily have walked it in those first six days, but it's been another 13 days since then. I'm hoping he's having some kind of break and just kept walking.
