Found Safe UK - Owami Davies, 24, from Chafford Hundred, Essex, last seen in Croydon, Surrey, 6 Jul 2022

Could the distressed pic be taken from a cashpoint/ATM machine? It's close up and the angle for a cashpoint seems about right...??
Good point. She is looking down, not directly at the camera. That would make sense

Do you think that the NCA's involvement is because the police have hit a dead end and NCA have more tools to search the CCTV etc?

I hope Owami's case is kept in the news and that she is found soon, safe and well. The photo of her looking distressed is haunting.

The NCA Major Crime Investigative Support can assist with specialist skills and knowledge.

The NCA are also responsible for the UK Missing Persons Unit, which acts as the SPOC for national and international enquiries.

I disagree with this. It looks to me that the 2 people are still on the pavement when the van starts to move off. They then move very close to the van but that is not the fault of the van driver.
It's a really unsafe place to cross the road. They're on the bend, and cross at the widest part. I'm wondering (if Owami was the person walking in front, and was being followed) if she didn't cross to try and get the driver's help or attention, but they didn't stop. That first person crossing the road comes very close to the van, like they want to interact with it/the driver

The disappearance of student nurse Owami Davies: A full timeline

Mystery continues to surround the sudden disappearance of Owami Davies, who has been missing for more than six weeks.

July 4: Owami leaves her family home in Grays, Essex, where she lives with her mother Nicol Davies, 46, and brothers

July 7: The student nurse is seen in the early hours walking along Derby Road, West Croydon, more than 28 miles away from her home

July 7: An unconfirmed sighting was then reported to police close to nearby Clarendon Road at around 7am later the same day

July 7: CCTV footage is released by police showing Owami walking along London Road in Croydon, south London, towards the Norbury area at around 12.30pm.

She is seen wearing a dark jacket, red t-shirt, light grey joggers and slider type shoes. She also had a white handbag over her shoulder.

July 31: The Metropolitan Police first issued a public appeal for assistance in the search three weeks after Owami's disappearance.

August 3: Detectives confirm three men from the Croydon area - 23, 27 and 32 - have been taken into custody over her disappearance.

August 3: The Met releases images of Owami on the night of July 7 inside a sham in Derby Road, Croydon.

The force also appeals to speak to the driver of a white van that was parked in the same road.

It is revealed that she was in the company of a man and crossed the road just as the van pulled out.

Officers begin speaking to the public and handing out appeal leaflets.

August 4: Another arrest is made in connection with the disappearance, a 23-year-old man at an address in Croydon on suspicion of murder

August 5: Police issue another public appeal more than a month after she went missing from her family home.

Detectives say 'they have a clearer idea of Owami’s movements' after extensive CCTV enquiries

August 7: Another police appeal reveals an unconfirmed sighting reported at around 7am in Clarendon Road, West Croydon, on July 7.

A 27-year-old man is arrested on suspicion of kidnap, the fifth arrest.

August 9: The Met continues to appeal for help from the public in its search after revealing that officers have 'searched houses and parks, viewed hundreds of hours of CCTV and conducted extensive door-to-door enquires'.

August 10: Police release then new CCTV footage of Owami walking along London Road, Croydon, wearing 'a distinctive red Adidas top'

August 16: Police say they have received reports of 'someone of Owami’s description being seen in the Croydon area in the days after she was last seen'.

A very sad timeline. Seems odd there was the 2 confirmed sightings on the same day and nothing else before or after (well, what we know of). This just makes me think it’s one of those cases where the person has a ‘right’ to be missing / change their lifestyle drastically.

Bear in mind that these may not be the only sightings on CCTV. The police may have others!

The police may not be 100% certain that more recent images are of OD or they may not be suitable for public dissemination and could undermine the opportunity for information based on people seeing the earlier but clearer CCTV from 7th July at approximately 12:30 on London Road.

SBM - probably a regional dialect thing, but what is a sham? Are we talking derelict building, drugs den, religious building, shed?

I wonder if she got ‘summoned’ to Croydon? Hence thinking it could be over shortly (within a gym trip time span). Then couldn’t do whatever was being asked - maybe protecting a younger member of the family? This is a theory only, sparked by an episode of FBI files I am watching.

And I still think she is wandering aimlessly in the streets.
B/c why would she be sleeping "rough" in the street if she had accommodation?

I guess the latest sightings are in different places in Croydon.

She might have a bag of clothes stashed somewhere where she chooses to sleep at night (parks?).
And then she changes direction.

Is she running away from somebody?
Or is it connected to drug or mental problem?

If she was on the streets in and around the area I suspect she would have been found by the police.

I think she is either holed up somewhere and being given food and drink or she has come to some harm.

But being "holed up" means the area of the cctv from 7th.
Surely Police checked this area?

She seems to be moving constantly - in my opinion.

Not every inch is covered by CCTV, it can be avoided by luck or judgement. She could have doubled back or gone off the main road. She could have got in a vehicle or hopped on public transport and is now outside the area.

Police have over 50000 hours of CCTV to view and they are playing catchup with each day that passes.

Investigators/Outreach Workers will be speaking with the homeless in the area. They are also a community and they know each other. They will be aware of new people living on the streets.

It's really hard to keep on moving, without being identified by someone. It's made even harder without cash to buy food/drink. Using any bank cards she has would soon be identified.

She will need to rest and that is far easier and less overt if she is holed up with a roof over her head and someone else bringing food/drink.

Do you mean she has no cash of her own?
She is a grown up person.

Homeless people don't give info to Police (*snitch* in their lingua), many are living "on the other side of law" and run as quickly as their legs can carry them when they see police officers.

Police have asked the public to look in their garages, sheds or outside buildings as she may have escaped to somewhere to look for a safe harbour. It seems plausible she's somewhere like this - there are lots of residential streets surrounding London Road where she was last seen, therefore likely fewer cameras. Also, as I mentioned in an earlier post, the direction of travel when she was last seen is in the direction of the hospital - she may have been trying to reach it but met whomever she is trying to escape from.

Also in regards to cash - on the CCTV camera of her in the shop, she looks to be counting coins in her hand(?). I think she's likely only carrying cash - hence why her card movements haven't been traced. A lot of the shops in West Croydon are cash-only too.

Cash only lasts so long. Using her cash card to take out more will ping the system.

You'd be surprised what information one can get from homeless people. It's all about the way it's done....I know first hand!

Well, I guess we will know the answer when the places from these still unchecked cctv are disclosed.
