First court appearance, trial provisionally set for 28th October:

An Italian-born man will go on trial in the autumn for allegedly strangling and dismembering PC Gordon Semple after meeting him on gay dating website Grindr.

Stefano Brizzi, 49, is accused of killing the 59-year-old officer at his flat on a day between 1 April and 7 April.

I'm guessing he was killed on the 1st, but the state of the remains makes it unclear.
 
Strangled, chopped up and dumped in communal bins.
We seem to be hearing more and more of victims being chopped up!

I can't help think back to the cctv of GS casually walking along, totally unaware what was about to befall him.

Balding Brizzi, sporting a neatly trimmed beard, appeared in the dock at the Old Bailey today wearing aviator Ray Ban sunglasses and a grey prison-issue tracksuit.

Why would he even have those glasses on, straight from a police van into a court. Hope he was made to take them off.

I wonder if it's something to do with the cheapness of powertools these days. Aldi and Lidl seem to have them on offer every couple of months.

I would assume it was down to vanity. The Italians have the concept of la bella figura, or always looking good.

To be fair, he must be insane to think you can do that to someone and then plead not guilty!?!
 
It'll be the old 'rough sex gone wrong' defence, I reckon. Followed by a 'mental break' that led to the rest.

A police officer was strangled and his body dismembered and partially dissolved in a bath of acid, a court has heard.

The Old Bailey was told PC Gordon Semple, 59, had made a date with his alleged murderer Stefano Brizzi on the dating app Grindr.

The policeman then went to Mr Brizzi's flat in south London for sex on 1 April, the jury heard.

Mr Brizzi denies murder claiming the PC died accidentally during a sex game.

Opening the trial, prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC told jurors the case called for "broad minds and strong stomachs".

I think we all knew that this would be his line of defense, no? I don't believe one bit of it.

I really feel for the gay community in London. Currently, gay serial rapist and serial killer Stephen Port is also standing trial. He found his victims on Tinder.

Guys please be careful who you meet on these aps! Don't meet them at their homes!
