I think there is a strong argument for giving Malik a life sentence (with a minimum term) and for giving Urfan Sharif a whole life order and I think the judge will seriously be considering both of those.

Batool can have no complaints if she is also given a whole life order but I don’t think she will. My guess is life with a minimum term of between 27-30 years. But I am no legal expert and that’s just a guess.

Unfortunately, Malik can't be given a life sentence for the charge of causing or allowing. I think it was Moll who posted up the details earlier, but the max is 12 - 14 years. And, very likely, he will be out on licence after serving just 50% of that. :(

They absolutely did! It’s shocking and heartbreaking that every Adult in her life let her down.
I thought the school did much better than the rest. The headteacher of her primary school in West Byfleet gave a real picture of the kind of child Sara was and clearly cared for her, and they did refer her to Social Services.

They gave a beautiful description of the child Sara was. The emotion was real in her video. I expect they will feel a lot of guilt and anger as well. Guilt because they didn’t push harder. Anger because their claims were not taken seriously. It’s hard to not feel some resentment to everyone in her life though because she could have been saved. My heart hurts so much for Sara and her siblings.

I am so pleased that Sara has been laid to rest with her Domin surname.

RIP little one

I'm not asking for anyone to confirm it because I know it's not our business, but I hope Olga has her son back and I hope she and he can heal and have peace.
I sincerely hope he’s not back in her care.
I’m not disputing that she was also a victim of Sharif abuse but she was clearly found to be an inadequate parent on several occasions, hence Sara being on a child protection plan since birth, the children taken into care several times and the elder sibling remaining in care.
I hope she can heal and I wish her peace, but I would not want any children to be at risk of any more suffering to help with that.

"This story is a depressingly familiar one.
In recent years,
the faces of too many children who met violent deaths at the hands of their parents or guardians have stared out from our newspapers and TVs.

From Victoria Climbie to Baby P,
their names serve as a rebuke
to those who failed to protect them from monstrous killers."

:(

I echo other posters praise towards the Jury members.

This case would have been heart breaking and emotional but I hope they take some comfort knowing that they played apart in getting some justice for Sara and by ensuring those monsters can never hurt a child again.

One thing I just don’t understand with this case is how the Local Authority allowed Sara to be home schooled - when she was on child protection AND after the school reported seeing bruising on her face TWICE.

Surely as soon as the school reported her bruising it should’ve been a HUGE red flag to the safeguarding team and social workers due to the family history.. I’d have expected safeguarding & social workers to visit the school that day and the inform the police.. yet it seems none of that happened.

I hope the Judge excuses them from any future Jury duty

That's your position and I respect your right to it, although I'm slightly confused by what you seem to believe I am hoping hoping for- wishing that she gets her son back is not a demand that he be returned immediately to her sole care with no support in place!

Thanks Dotta. I like seeing photos of Sara other than in her hijab or in the heavily made-up picture. Nothing against hijabs for those whose religion requires it, but despite what U. said, I'm pretty sure it wasn't Sara's choice at all.

I know, it was said to me on a previous thread that there are bruises on Sara in non-hijab photos and that she didn't always look well cared for e.g. her hair wasn't brushed, like in the photo above. Still, I think these photos show Sara's personality and it's good we get to see this part of her, rather than her being hidden the way U. and B. wanted.

RIP Sara. Dance and sing in heaven.
