Tony Eastlake, 55, was stabbed to death on the Essex Road in Islington on Saturday 29 May just before 5.30pm, while on his way to have dinner with a friend after closing up his flower stall, which is a well known local fixture. Early reports on social media suggested he had been stabbed after attempting to intervene in a mugging, but today's news reports suggest the attack was completely random. Paramedics worked extensively to save his life but he was declared dead at the scene around half an hour later. No suspects have been apprehended, no arrests made. Police appeal below.
