“Gary Cail, her father, posted that his family is 'devastated' and 'shook to the core' by the death of his daughter, as friends posted several cryptic messages about the tragic swimmer's passing.

One said that she had been 'trying to escape', and added that she 'deserves justice' despite no arrests being made in connection with her death.

They described her as an 'amazing human and friend', while writing in a separate post about Cali that they were 'going to find out the truth'.

Another post – which appeared to also be about the swimmer – said: 'She tried to escape to start healing. Unfortunately, she didn't make it in time. You were so close honey'.

It was followed by advice for what to do if you are in an abusive relationship, but there has been no confirmation of the circumstances surrounding Cail's death.“

”Police in the U.S. Virgin Islands are investigating the death of a 42-year-old New Hampshire native, investigators have confirmed.

Jamie Cail, of New Hampshire, died earlier this week after she was found unresponsive in her home.

The Virgin Islands Police Department said a clinic in St. John notified of the death, shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Around 12 a.m., Cail's boyfriend left a local bar to check on her at their home. When he arrived at home, he saw her on the floor, according to police.

With the help from a friend, the man was able to get Cail into a vehicle and take her to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic, police said.

At the clinic, CPR was rendered and 911 was called, but police reported Cail succumbed to her "ailment."

According to Cail's family, the 42-year-old was born in Claremont, New Hampshire. She was a star swimmer and spent much of her youth competing across the country.”

”The boyfriend of a US swimming star found dead at their home on the Virgin Islands was jailed for ten years after a violent brawl in 2007, according to sources.

Jamie Cail, 42, was found unresponsive on February 21 at around midnight, with police then launching a criminal investigation.

Sources confirmed to Fox News Digital her boyfriend is 'bad boy' Kamal Thomas, 34, who discovered her at their home after returning home from the pub.”

A Virgin Islands Department of Justice spokeswoman confirmed last week that the autopsy had been completed – but declined to comment, citing an "investigation underway." On Monday, she told Fox News Digital she still could not comment on Cail's cause and manner of death or whether authorities found evidence of foul play.

The lack of updates coincides with the start of the spring break vacation season and has island residents concerned.

According to Fox News Digital, Cail’s boyfriend has been identified as Kamal “Six Pack” Thomas, a 34-year-old convicted killer.

Thomas was sentenced to prison in Florida for his role in a deadly gang assault on a Pennsylvania man outside a bar on the island of St. John in 2007.

Thomas was a group member that chased down Jamie Cockayne, 21, after a bar fight and beat and stabbed him to death in the street.

Cockayne’s family worked for years to secure a conviction, and Thomas pursued at least two successful appeals, having the top charge of first-degree murder dismissed along the way.

The family hired private investigators and conducted their investigation.

Thomas is also linked to another American death. According to the St. Thomas Source, a local news site, one of Thomas’ accomplices in Cockayne’s death was shot in a drive-by shooting in 2006. Mekel Blash was in the car, and according to court records, he was later convicted of stabbing to death Jimmy Malfetti, a New Jersey man killed during a home invasion robbery while staying at a guest house on a luxury St. John property.

Why would they not call for EMS instead of transporting her?

I hope it's not the same kind of "investigation" that's been "underway" for two years into the disappearance of Sarm Heslop.

What in heaven's name do these so-called cryptic messages really mean.... I see no real reason that there has not been clarification.
I also see no reason the name of the boyfriend is not being given. Why?

I just hope further publicity about this island government, the autopsy results, and names of certain individuals becomes more apparent.

Shady for sure.

I'm not sure it's cryptic at all really. It's clear that - rightly or wrongly - her friends felt she was in an abusive relationship. Obviously, without more information we couldn't possibly comment.

If the circumstances of her death are considered suspicious - and according to the link below VIPD did announce there was to be a criminal investigation - then imo JC's partner would automatically be looked at with suspicion anyway until ruled out, just by dint of being her partner, even if he had not also been the person who "found" her and transported her to a medical facility rather than raising the alarm in situ, which is also an odd thing to do, again imo.

Fox News has named him as "Kamal "Six Pack" Thomas, a 34-year-old convicted killer" and there's lots more lovely information about him in the link. Afaik he has not been specifically named as a POI though, just identified as her partner and the man who took her "unresponsive" to a clinic.

What is wrong and weird imo is that the autopsy findings have still not been made available nearly a month after her death. I get that the USVI is hyper-sensitive about anything that might cast shade on their profile as a safe tourist destination - but was JC even a tourist anyway? The news reports make it sound as though she was resident on St John with her boyfriend.

Is there no statutory duty to make autopsy information available to her family?
