I hope they haven't announced it because they are going to announce an arrest at the same time. :twocents:

What?! I'm shocked. I really thought this was going to be her.

I'm sorry for the loved ones of whomever this is. Now two families are in pain.

I couldn't have said that better myself. With this revelation, comes that 4 letter word that keeps me coming back here again, and again.....hope.

I thought it was her too. Now that we know it is not her, this obviously means someone else had their life end in this horrific way! Like you said two families are in pain. So sorry for whoever this is.

Now...Where is Elena?!?

That's my exact reaction!

I'm shocked!

And while part of me is happy that now her family can have hope she's somehow alive somewhere (which, unfortunately, I completely doubt) the other part of me just fears her poor parents are only going to have their 15 days here (unless they get an extension) and then may have to go back home with no answers and no closure.
 
I still can't believe twice in less than a week we've had department of transportation affiliated workers find a body!

Erica Alonso, who had been missing since February 14th, was found late Monday night by CalTrans biologists in SoCal. Her body was retrieved and identified on Tuesday.

Now UDOT found someone - who seems to have not been reported missing, as the only name thrown out was E's.

But it's clearly a female, or they'd have said it wasn't her based on that and her parents wouldn't have even had to see the body period.

And it seems like it's got to be a Hispanic female with longer hair (UDOT person mentioning the hair) or else it wouldn't have meant her parents would have even been looking to see scars/birthmarks matched.

I'm starting to think there's a serial killer on the loose.

This poor family. :( I hope she is really just lost or something.
 
Prayers for the families of both women. There is going to be a new grieving family now.

The only one I could find that would match that description and a recent timeframe is Gabriela Garcia aka Gabi or Gibi

DOB: 9/13/1999
Age Now: 15 at time missing
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 115
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Race: Hispanic

But I can't find one news article or much of anything for her. She is not listed in NAMUS but shows up on Utah Dept of Public Safety's Missing Person's List.

Obviously this girl went missing in Jan 2015 and the suitcase was found yesterday. Going off of reports of Elena's parent's comments about scars and birthmarks that didn't match would seem to indicate that this crime was recent. So I'm not sure if it could be Gabriela but she is the only one that I could find that has been reported missing recently that is close to matching Elena's description.

Gabriela could have been alive until recently, I find it unusual that the DOT worker that found the suitcase stated that the remains were about 2wks old, how did he know that ?
Not many people know the decomposition rate of the human body and what it looks like.....

I agree she could have been alive until recently. I haven't seen where it is stated that the UDOT guy said it looked about 2 weeks into decomp?! That's odd... :(

She may have been missing since January, but not deceased until a few weeks ago. :(

We might have serial Mormons around here but (thankfully) I don't think we've got serial killers roaming. At least not since Ted Bundy (I think). [emoji1]

Maybe one idea is someone missing from Nevada?
