A couple different family members have been quoted and/or paraphrased, none who sought out media, that have differing terms for a very traumatic incident, and likely would prefer it all go away, isn't a bed of lies, FFS...

Perhaps I misunderstood your post but I believe HC two sisters are seeking out the media to keep talking (even doing video interviews, both of them), by providing bizarre updates. They are keeping this going. IMO

My question is didn’t the people on the shuttle confirm she didn’t have food and water? Or did she have food and water? Where would she get enough water for 12 days?
Snipped for focus.
The restroom or a cache.
The sheriff's spokesperson made clear HC had a source of clean water.

All I've seen are a couple short clips and a lot of repeating and paraphrasing.
Links to the spotlight-seeking?

The sister comment that "we" were told to limit discussion, just be cheerleaders, and that they really didn't know much, said a lot.

Original post plus 5 updates attached

There were 201 donations totaling $12,010 over 7-days.

(GET was started on 10/15/20 about 9 days after HC last seen on 10/6/20).

Here is the last update posted on the closed GET. This confirms what I've suspected or that HC has suffered from mental issues in the past and ventured off to Zion NOT IN THE BEST FRAME OF MIND.

The update also acknowledges the inconsistencies reported by media.

Take note that the family is offering refunds to anybody that asks and/or encourages donors to contact GET them for the same.

Also, the Original GET text and all 5 updates posted in the quote above.

For whatever reason, I don't think this update will satisfy some readers.

Sorry for all that remain offended by HC and her family.

*UPDATED 10-22-20*

We understand many of you have questions regarding Holly’s search and rescue. The below article will address many of those questions:

Sister of missing Zion hiker says her survival without food and water was 'a miracle'

Holly has suffered from mental health issues in the past and went on her hike not in the best frame of mind. She did not intend to become injured or so weak on her journey. Nor, did she intend for her trip to become a search and rescue effort. If Holly was not found when she was, she would have died.

The intent of Holly’s Go Fund Me has always been to aid the search and recovery efforts as well as post recovery care. In order to provide as much transparency as possible, I am detailing what your donations will be used for:

• Funds will be used to reimburse the family and friend's costs in searching for Holly. (Such as; hotels rooms, equipment purchased to look for Holly, car rentals, and food for search parties. • A separate bank account will be opened up to reimburse these individuals. • A remainder of the donations will be used to cover the medical care applied to Holly during her hospital stay as well as therapy costs moving forward.

We appreciate everyone’s continued support. This fundraiser is, and always was, 100 percent legitimate. However, we acknowledge and respect people’s concerns over the many inaccuracies portrayed by the press and social media regarding Holly’s ordeal. Whomever has concerns about our use of their donation is welcome to request a refund without any objection from the family. You may do so by contacting Go Fund Me and go through their refund process.

I’m not trying to convince you of the content of the interviews. I did want to point out that, IMO, they (HC two sisters) are absolutely seeking out the media. IMO

Whatever else is true, it looks like the family has finally figured out a better way to deal with the situation.

No one is refuting that she may have had mental health issues in the past. The biggest concern is that has never been alluded to in the 15 days since she was reported missing. I’ve said it before, if they had just asked for privacy to deal this entire discussion wouldn’t exist, the rebuttal by LE likely wouldn’t have ever been mentioned. How does SAR, LE, NPS look if they allow someone in life threatening condition walk out of the park without rendering much needed aid?

Fair enough. I haven't seen the who-called-who. But, I don't watch TV, only read, or scan a Youtube if linked.
Perhaps take a moment to view the many interviews posted by our sleuthers - in this very thread - prior to commenting ? Most of us have followed her case from the beginning - trying to help locate her, raising awareness of her missing in the park - and now ? We are trying to understand how she could have even survived after all this time without drinkable water

I’m personally relieved he made a statement. People need to know you don’t survive without water for 12 days in a park that’s in his jurisdiction. IMO

I feel this is such an important thing to point out. There are millions (4.3m) of visitors to Zion every year. Now imagine you’re planning a trip to Zion and see that someone survived 12 days without a drop of water or a bite of food. This will lead people to believe that bringing essentials isn’t necessary, resulting in many more people in distress in need of rescuing. This will lead to copy cats who will try to beat a 12 day record in Zion park without supplies. It’s a serious safety issue.

Do you mean, when searchers had already started looking for her? I gather she was dropped off in the park on Oct 6th. AFAIK, she was declared missing on Oct 8th. I think that was when her vehicle was found in a town near the park. I don't know the extent of search in the early days, but unless she left the park and came back, that would put her in ZNP while searchers were already looking for her. Maybe she was in some other part of the park from where they were looking; maybe she was actively evading them, I don't know. If she truly was fasting, I doubt she'd be bopping around, but who knows.

JMO
Yes, pretty much. It’s a big park, especially if you intentionally don’t want to be found. She may not have told family where she was going in the dead of night but, since we only have conjecture for a lot of what we’re discussing, she may have said to her daughter while they were there previously, “This place is incredible. I can’t wait to come back!” And the daughter put two-and-two together. Exactly where she was, in or out of the park during that time, we have no idea. Maybe she was injured towards the end of her sojourn. Or maybe she was in town and saw a flyer or the news and decided it was best to “get found”. Or some other scenario entirely. Unless she talks or LE thinks an investigation is worth it on top of everything else, we may never know.

WRT fasting, a normal routine isn’t really a problem. I’ve pushed mowed my hilly half acre, rode my bike to town — even done day hikes on the AT — without issue well into my longer fasts. Indeed, it’s common now to endurance train while fasting. Bopping is definitely a possibility while she was hydrated. The body is an amazing and adaptable thing.

But I don’t want to get sidetracked on that. My point is just that if she was familiar with fasting she may not have needed a lot of food. Or any. And she could have gotten lucky with water, knowingly or unknowingly. I think she made some bad decisions and maybe some dangerous ones. But I don’t know why she made them and, beyond that, I choose not to judge.

You're correct. A teenage daughter and the hiker's sister were not honest with the public. I think people lie more than ever today because everybody wants to make themselves look better. We could feel an entire thread analyzing why they did not respond the way others think they should have. I'm sure they are not the first, and won't be the last. The only person that can really speak for herself is HC, and she has remained silent. That's probably a good idea. I think this will follow her to the end of her days.

I have also followed from the beginning, and seen/read interviews, prior to commenting. AGAIN, it's mostly second hand, and been paraphrased.

Her daughter, prior to her being rescued, had mentioned she had little food or water. That it got turned to NONE, on second hand accounts from family members, then clung to with Pit Bull ferocity, struck me as odd. Like the toxic algae. Water column tests showed ZERO, so unless she stirred it up, or an animal did so closely upstream, it's not dangerous.

I appreciate the fam’s latest statement though. And the contradictory statements did come from them, not HC. So hopefully her circumstances will improve & she can just put the situation behind her. The latest statement resolves much imo. Jmo. Moo.

It’s really weird. The park’s statements were that she was found, basically fine and walked out with her family. End of story. Now the family keeps saying she was basically near death and the doctors were “shocked” how bad she was. The sheriff is frustrated and saying, uh, no. That’s not how she was at all. So WHY is the family saying this? That’s the question.

They've raised over $12k in a go fund me. It's hard to let go of preconceived notions for anyone, much less when they concern a loved family member.
