The child has been identified as Lorenzo Linam. He’s described as 3 feet 6 inches tall, 40 pounds, with sandy-colored hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a beach-theme button-down shirt, khaki pants and black Nike shoes, according to alert.utah.gov.

The Utah Department of Public Safety tweeted about 11 p.m. that the child’s life is in danger.

Police say the suspect is Danny Sihalath, 29, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Sihalath is described as Asian or Pacific Islander, with sleeve tattoos on both forearms. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and dark tennis shoes.

Police are looking for a red Acura TSX SE with Utah license plate No. 2S2NP in connection with the Amber Alert. The car has a missing front bumper and grill, with damage to the driver’s side window.

Anyone with information about the Amber Alert is asked to call the American Pork Police Department at 801-822-2969 or dial 911.

Police fire at man suspected of theft, involved in AMBER Alert

UPDATE: American Fork police Lt. Josh Christensen confirmed that 29-year-old Danny Sihalath is the suspect in this incident. Sihalath is currently a suspect in an ongoing Amber Alert for a missing 5-year-old boy in a red Acura.

Christensen said that the child was in the back seat of the car when the incident happened.

AMERICAN FORK, Utah — Police are searching for a man after they say he fled from police, hitting a woman who had been in the car and provoking police to shoot at him Tuesday night.

According to Christensen, officers arrived at Walmart in American Fork for a theft-in-progress call at 949 Grassland Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they waited for the man suspected of theft to leave the store, who fled to his car. Officers chased him to his vehicle, and began issuing commands to him.

A woman passenger was in the car but got out of it to comply with police. However, the man entered the car and kept refusing to comply with police commands, Christensen said.

The suspect fled in the car and struck the woman while fleeing.

Christensen said a Utah County Sheriff deputy arrived to assist as the suspect was fleeing.

“At some point in this engagement, shots were fired by the Utah County Sherrif deputy,” Christensen said.

The suspect continued to flee in his car, and police began to chase the vehicle but stopped that chase when they lost sight of the car. Another chase began; that one was also called off.

Police are still searching for the man and the car. It is not known if the man was injured. The woman who was hit by the vehicle has minor injuries.
