WG – ‘White guy’ (for lack of better term) who called in a tip to LE stating he saw Hannah in front of Sal’s restaurant – she appeared to be in physical distress – he followed her briefly as he was concerned for her safety – he stopped following her upon the arrival of a black male who approached her and put his arm around her as he perceived that she was safe with him – he thought it was someone she knew

BG – ‘Black guy’ (for lack of better term) – According to LE early on in the case BG was described by WG as a black male wearing black pants, white top, with goatee and slight beer belly – initial reports claimed this is the man who WG saw put his arm around Hannah (this has been heavily disputed)

- 1:06 a.m. Graham is captured on surveillance video at Sal's Pizza on East Main Street. A white man walks into the camera's view, looks over his shoulder then steps into a doorway. Graham walks past him and then he starts walking behind her. He later came to police and told them he was following Graham because she seemed distressed and he wanted to make sure she was safe.

- BG walked westbound along mall and then "u-turned" and headed east behind HG, eventually catching up to her and placing his arm around her. (Confirmed by CPD).

If her phone pinpointed her location, police have not released the information, and police did not clarify whether the text was sent before or after leaving the bar. Police have stated that they do not believe she sent the text from 14th and Wertland. sources cite conflicting information - needs to be verified

Sept. 19
- Police receive a warrant to search a car and condo about 3 miles northwest from where Graham was last seen.
164 Hessian Hills Way, Charlottesville

Police spoke to him this morning when they executed a search warrant and seized his car, but did not feel that they had enough probable cause to arrest him, Longo said.

"We know that he purchased alcohol (in the restaurant) and we know that Hannah Graham was with him. We also know that within 15 minutes he was gone from that bar and Hannah Graham was with him," Longo said.
"People saw Hannah and people saw him, and people saw them together. And it's entirely possible, we believe, that Hannah Graham may have gotten into his vehicle," the chief said.

Longo asked for anyone to call police if they saw Graham get into the man's 1998 burnt orange Chrysler coupe.
The first warrant was a search and seizure warrant for a vehicle which was executed shortly after midnight. When police arrived at the apartment building and seized the car, a person connected to the car was in his apartment with two others. Police identified those individuals, but the officer did not feel he had the grounds to detain the individuals, Longo said.

After seizing the car and taking it to an undisclosed location for the full search, investigators developed probable cause and sought approvals for the two other warrants. Police arrived back at the apartment shortly after 10 a.m. and the three individuals were no longer inside, Longo said.

- Over 1200 citizen volunteers searched Charlottesville for Hannah.

- Jesse Matthew arrived at Charlottesville PD – requested a lawyer – LE found him a lawyer with whom he spoke to briefly – he left without speaking with LE – no new information was provided – he was later observed speeding and driving recklessly – LE had to abandon pursuit due to high speeds citing public safety concerns.

Sept. 21
- Chief Longo holds a press conference

- During a Sunday press conference, police chief Tim Longo said the department has issued arrest warrants for Jesse Matthew for reckless driving. According to Newsday, the warrants were issued Saturday after he left the Charlottesville Police Department station. Longo said investigators were "overtly" trailing Matthew on Saturday and tracked him to a home in Albermarle County. Longo said Matthew then drove away from the home at a high rate of speed.

There was mention that he was moving boxes and other things out of his apt over the weekend. Seems that he was moving, as his apt 164-1 (which we now know the full address from the warrants) is listed on Craigslist as available after Oct 4th. The listing was created back in Aug so maybe he gave his 30 days+. Just wanted to shed light on the fact that the "removal of items" may not have necessarily been nefarious.

IMO Tempo should be seeking legal counsel. They have a responsibility to ensure there are no minor's consuming alcohol on their property. Additionally, they have a legal mandate to NOT serve alcohol to anyone, regardless of age, who appears drunk.

I wonder if Tempo staff are clamming up out of fear of legal action against them....being the last restaurant an under-aged girl stopped at with an older male, at 1:30am, being served alcohol while drunk, doesn't meet the definition of "good PR."

I watched the Sal's video again and I noticed something that I did not notice before. The WG starts to walk on a bit of a slant towards the doorway and he turns his head backwards for a second while walking.

If Im reading the inspection sticker correctly that car is 4 months past due on inspection.

Not something that an individual with their act together would let slide for so long IMO.

When police went to JM's house to seize the car, whatever JM said (even if it was benign in nature) gave LE what they needed to search the house. Now JM is afraid to speak, guilty or not.

Since it was brought up that JM was a cab driver at one time, what do you think the chance is that he is working with Uber or Lyft? maybe he was picking up HG? THat is why he recognized her and or she recognized him? Does Uber and Lyft use some kind of social settings like pictures or gps?

NO he was not driving for Uber of Lyft....they have specific requirements for cars due to safety reasons. One of these is that the car must have four doors. Additionally, there is a requirement regarding age of the car. His car would be about 10 years older than the requirements. Insurance and proper state/city inspections would also be required. We KNOW he did not have those.

So it's okay to discuss the connection to Hannah's case on Morgan's thread, but not vice versa?

There is no known connection between Hannah and Morgan's case. Hence the reason we are not permitted to discuss Morgan's case in here, this is Hannah's thread.

Eh this is nothing new for virginia. Virginia has hardcore traffic laws and has my entire life. People often get surprised here with hefty fines and tickets because other states aren't like this. Hence why I love driving in other states ;) haha

How fast do you have to drive to go to prison?

Well sure. But why do we assume this guy is innocent? I mean, he was the last person known to be with a missing girl who he did not know and he's not talking, apparently. It is no wonder that LE is interested in this young man.

But regardless, POI really means about the same thing as suspect. It's just that LE don't use the term suspect much anymore because it changes how they can approach a suspect and scares people off. But we all know LE inspect this young man, whether rightly or wrongly, of brig involved in Hannah's disappearance.

We should assume he is innocent because he IS legally, until convicted in a court of law. That is how our legal system is supposed to work. We can suspect, speculate, but to assume someone is guilty when the police couldn't charge him, couldn't keep him in their station is wrong. There isn't enough evidence to even arrest him, much less arraign him and try him, and way off from convicting him. The DA wants no part of this with what LE has to show. That's why he's not locked up right now.

All that needs to happen is a confirmed sighting of Hannah elsewhere with someone else at a later time, and LE will drop JM like a hot potato. He's all they got right now. If forensics doesn't have anything for LE to use, they are really going to be at a loss.

I couldn't sleep last night so of course I was thinking about Hannah...could JM have started following her before she got to the downtown mall? Could he have seen her on her journey through town and followed her down to the mall?

Multiple times I have said that the video from Tuel's Jewelers shows a timestamp of 1:02 when the media says the time was 1:08. Well it may be 1:08 because I found a Sal's video with a time stamp and it says 1:06 on there video so I am assuming the time on the Tuel's video is incorrect and it was really around 1:08 as the media says.

You should find the post with JM's rap sheet . The man could not get it together with his car and driving and requirements. That's been a big problem he's had. But no felonies or other kinds of crime, at least no one's found anything and LE hasn't said anything Car and driving and paperwork for both seem to be problems for JM.

The video of the presser (I guess from yesterday) didn't bode well for that cop, IMO. If they wanted this guy to cooperate, they went about it the wrong way. Now they are coming up with some BS charges to get him back in custody. They blew it and they know they blew it. Now, I am not saying I think this guy is guilty or innocent - he obviously needs to speak up about how they parted ways, if they did in fact part ways. IMO, she had intentions to meet up with him - but the police will know this through phone records. All she had to do was set a time, at the mall, she's 5-11 so she's gonna stand out and then he walks around and spots her, they meet up.

With all the Ferguson stuff going on, I hope they have their man but boy they are blowing it fast.

Her friends (and even family) should be able to say if this was a type of guy she'd be interested in. OR if she was meeting him to buy drugs.

They say they don't know where he is - isn't he still going to work? Something about all of this seems disorganized and strange.

"BREAKING: police tell @HenryGraff they are serving another search warrant on Jesse Matthew's apartment in #HannahGraham case." - from @NBC29

Why would they have gotten another search warrent for the apartment? And on what grounds?

Many years ago, my ex and I were driving through VA, he was speeding and they pulled us over. Because he was going 20mph over the limit, we had to follow the officer to a magistrates office to have the charge processed. I don't speed in VA...
