    Bring Harriet Home
Harriet was at home with a caregiver at 4:40 PM on the day she went missing. A friend phoned the landline to confirm an appointment and heard Harriet in the background. Reportedly, nobody saw Harriet leave her house, so we don’t know what time she left or if she was alone at the time. Harriet was reported missing by a caregiver the following morning when her dog was found on the back porch and Harriet was nowhere to be found. She is believed to have been wearing a purple coat, turtleneck, white pants, black orthopedic shoes, and was carrying a purse and possibly a cane.

Harriet’s husband was moved to Tennessee on March 8, 2021. It is possible that Harriet may be trying to get to Bristol to find him. A few days before she disappeared, Harriet was discovered by a neighbor trying to break into her car after she was unable to find her car keys. She hasn’t driven in quite a while and is no longer in possession of the keys. She told the neighbor that she, “...had to get to Bristol.”

Harriet was increasingly confused and paranoid in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. She reportedly stopped eating on Wednesday and was likely dehydrated. This may have contributed to her confusion. Harriet has a distinctive wide gait when walking due to an ankle injury.

If you have any information, please contact your local police department or call Roanoke PD at 540-853-2212. If you think you see Harriet, please keep her in sight and call 9-1-1.

Good video with one of Harriet's neighbors. She mentions Harriet had broken her foot and walks with a limp.

From the Bring Harriet Home page - Harriet previously lived in Salem :

Cases of those with dementia really hurt my heart. Since she was confused and mentioning needing to get to Bristol (where her husband is/was) a mere few days prior to her disappearance, I think it’s highly likely that was still her intent. There could be multiple possibilities. I hope she’s somehow lucked into a safe situation, and will be found alive asap.

“She was here one day and gone the next. And a month later you still can’t find her. You do think about her every day,” Neighbor Jeanie Francis said.

There are also purple ribbons and posters throughout Grandin Village reminding people that Harriet is still gone.

The color purple is in honor of dementia awareness, something authorities say Harriet was diagnosed with at the time of her disappearance. Purple also is a color that Harriet would wear a lot, many neighbors saying they would see her walking in a purple coat.
