Because the abuser twists truth and lies into a jumbled mess, not unlike the entire relationship. A Gordian knot, that can only be unraveled by getting to the center, wherein the base truth lies.

I very vaguely remember the Turner saga...I just know it too was an ugly ugly relationship.

The jury here, in this instance has to try to untie the proverbial Gordian knot, and get to the center. They will have had six weeks of horrific and redundant testimony to get through. Sorting through facts vs fiction, audio tapes, doctor's notes, police reports, photos etc. It will all boil down to who they believe more...AH or JD. IMO

I personally was gobsmacked when I first heard the audio recording of AH and her unglued state of mind. This was all I needed to hear....and I became "team Johnny" if you will. The man lived in pure hell, and admitted he tried to escape, via physical or chemical means.

I know I won't forget that. I don't know if the jury will be able to either.

The above, in a perfectly expressed nutshell, is at the absolute root of my feelings about Depp and why I get so frustrated when I see his chronic addiction issues being downplayed and excused. His own history of 'hedonism' has been out there in the public domain for decades, so much of it in his very own words! You cannot live that life over a long period of time without it having a very detrimental effect upon both your physical and mental wellbeing. And what he's revealed about himself, between this current trial and the earlier libel trial, is such grim testimony to that.

No amount of whataboutery regarding Heard - and some of it is very justifiable - can distract from that.
Depp is a result of Hollywood. I saw another actor who is not testifying who was in a movie with AH. He said she partied hard and this was before JD and had sex with both men and women and had many stories to tell. He said people from Hollywood don’t testify because they all have the same truths to tell on one another, like a society. He said she used coke daily. And everyone knows it. It doesn’t take away from JDs reputation or add to it.
But they made choices to be famous and dull their conscious with drugs and alcohol. Pitiful really, the things people do to themselves. Not sure parents should get the blame for adult decisions. Everyone here has free will.

Johnny Depp is expected to return to the stand in his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, her representatives said Saturday.

Heard's legal team is slated to call Depp as the third witness Monday, her representatives said. Additional witness updates for the rest of the week were forthcoming, they said.

Representatives for Depp declined to comment Saturday...

IMO .. just speaking for myself .. they are taking a risk alienating the jury even more by doing this. JD has claimed he is a victim and people believe him (millions of people) .. at this point it's starting to look like they are harassing a victim and I don't think that's going to go well for them. They should have had their *ish* together and asked him what they needed the first time he was on the stand .. unless of course they have something new.

Three people who were once close to Johnny Depp on Thursday charted the actor’s rise and fall from “the biggest movie star in the world” to a man who struggled with drugs, money and the ability to show up at movie sets on time.

Testifying at the behest of attorneys representing Depp's ex-wife Amber Heard were a longtime agent, a former business manager and a friend of Depp's for nearly four decades.

Tracey Jacobs, who served as the actor's agent for about 30 years, said Depp was “showing up late to set consistently on virtually every movie” during their final years working together.

“I was very honest with him and said, ‘You've got to stop doing this – this is hurting you,’” Jacobs said during a previously recorded deposition that was played in court Thursday. “And it did.”...

With friends like Jacobs .. and a wife like AH .. who needs enemies?

I wonder if they will ask the anatomy expert about the kind of injuries one could expect to sustain after repeated beating and penetration with a glass bottle?
And IF it could cause infertility. It's been published that AH used a surrogate whether any of the jury members know that or not. I'm not implying AH is infertile. I think if her lawyers can imply the damage could cause infertility, the dots could be connected. IMHO

I see no reason to doubt him when he says she would repeatedly threaten to commit suicide during the course of their marriage, which is what I call emotional blackmail.

The reason why I say this is, because the court record has evidences of his post-leaving meetings - requested by her, at least one of which has been directly testified to by the agent Christian Carino, took place before she revoked the TRO - where she's still threatening to kill herself (weepy-voiced - "what if I die without you?") - is he required to stay with this in perpetuity? Because she's not giving up.

AH is a bully and abused JD. He tries to get away from her because she get's physical and she get's angry about it. AH even corrects JD and yells at him that she didn't punch him, she just hit him, decked him!? And how he is such a baby for even suggesting that. She is so angry that he refuses to get into physical fights with her!? MOO

I couldn't agree with you more .. those audios are all I needed to hear.

Are you saying celebrities can't be victims of DV, because they have money and aren't trapped?

I get Amber was probably the aggressor in this situation, which then begs the question - Why didn't Depp leave sooner?

I'm sure you're aware that it's a lot more deep rooted than being able to just walk out of the door.

Rihanna and Whitney H, are just two that come to mind, and I'm sure there are others.
One of the answers might be that JD testified several times that he didn't he didn't want to fail. IMHO

You are correct. Also, in the recordings AH is constantly accusing him of splitting, that he constantly leaves. It seems he tries to explain to her that he splits because she wants to fight, but she won't have it. I think he loved her and cared for her but it's not easy to just walk away. I'm glad he was able to.

Edit - added commentary.

Given that there were so many video witnesses, will jurors be given special instructions regarding witnesses who did not testify in person? Should video witnesses' testimony be subject to the same consideration as those who testified in person and were subject to cross examination? I, personally, was not impressed with video testimony and could not place significant weight on the testimony of witnesses who did not testify in person. JMO

I'm sorry but she testified that she did not seek medical help during or immediately following this supposed incident. If she had the type of injuries that would cause infertility then she would not have been on a plane flying back to LA .. she would have been in the hospital getting the care she needed. If her team decides to take this approach, they are digging a hole even deeper than they already have. These jurors and the public are not stupid .. MOO

and IMO .. the only reason she used a surrogate is because Carly Simon said it best

Steven Crowley knows Amber Heard well, as they starred together in the movie 'Never Back Down', and he has stated that he saw her doing cocaine back then.

That movie was released in 2008, when Heard was 22 years of age, and spent time socialising with Crowley.

I, also wonder why he didn't leave sooner. But, I do find it very interesting his decision to tell AH he wanted a divorce came right after the passing of his mother :( (Maybe he decided some forms of living are worse than dying) jmo

Check out the comments, especially the pinned one by WPD.

Even I had to laugh :D.

“Then he sent limos to her school when all the social workers were crawling around, again, unasked, for her and all her friends to go to both Pirates,” the Live Through This songstress said. “He did it a bunch of times. He gave her her own seat with her name on it. I’ve never seen those Pirates movies, but she loved them. You know, she said to me when she was 13, ‘mama, he saved my life’. And she said it again,” Courtney added.

I remember seeing those stories when she first released them, I thought it was super sweet of Johnny to do that for Frances.
