Re the lone survivor of this horror:
Wondering if -- when she is able -- it would be a good change for her to go to a boarding school.
Her name has not been mentioned (AFAIK) in the press; she is of an age where there could be a good boarding school with girls of her age -- the girls in these schools are from various states -- small classes -- good education, etc., etc. She would be away from the house where it all happened, etc.
Just a thought...
I just feel so badly for the child- I’d want her to get a fresh start with all the social and emotional support she needs- I cannot imagine what she’s going through and or how one recovers from such extreme trauma! Moo

i found your post to be warm and thoughtful....
I also think this would be a good idea.

however must confess that I taught at a private boarding school many years ago...and I saw students thrive.

If she has always been home-schooled, then it would probably be best not to change that routine. Hopefully there is a family member who can provide a home schooling environment for her.

I hope that whatever she wants is honored. I think an 11 year old is old enough to decide if she'd prefer school or home learning, especially given what she's been through. Its possible being around other kids her own age will help, or maybe its the last thing she'd want. I just hope she's with people who'll do what's best for her while also taking her wishes into account.

That's the same understanding I have. We were all teenagers once. Many of us knew the combo, the hiding place, etc., that our parents thought was secure. That's pretty common. It's also possible dad thought 15m was responsible & trustworthy & gave him the combo, but we don't know for certain either way.
BBM- this is the explanation which makes the most sense, IMO. Dad trusted his oldest child with the information, which sadly meant he had no safety concerns in doing so.

Agreed. I don't see that a boarding school would be good now. Teen girls can be ruthlessly cruel. I think that she needs a supportive family environment now. Hopefully, there is a place she can safely land and move forward.

Children are amazingly resilient. Trauma that would incapacitate an adult, Children can move forward from and thrive.

Perhaps, because their brains are not yet fully developed.

The last name of the deceased victims has been released and isn't particularly common. I believe she's with her maternal grandmother currently - not sure if that's local to the area they were living.

I should think she could use a different last name for the rest of her life if she wants to - here in Australia you can change your name either by deed poll or "by usage". Perfectly legal, as long as it is not done "with intent to defraud".

she might want to stay close with her current friends

Agree, I think she would possibly feel even more alone than she would be at ‘home’

The issue it seems, in this family, is that the 15 year old was "homeschooled", and most services for mental health, usually start with referrals from school counselors, teachers. And, it also must include the parents consent as well.

We have seen other kids on WS, who definitely needed intervention, and their parents didn't seek out assistance. Josh Duggar, Ethan Crumbley, Robert Crimo, just to mention a few.

Lawyers for the teenage boy accused of slaughtering his parents and three siblings in their Fall City, Washington, home have doubled down on his claim that his younger brother committed the crimes as part of a murder-suicide.

His lawyers are grasping at straws, imo.
The article goes on to say there was no stippling or gunshot residue on the thirteen year old's wounds.
Omo.

I’d have to agree- especially with the gun in his had not having been fired and the 13m being shot twice- I’m having a hard time making that narrative work- along with the 11f witness report- not saying impossible- but having a hard time coming up with probable plausible scenarios- moo

But did 15m have gunshot residue? I could see no blood splatter, it didn’t seem like he was close in the shootings. Can you wash gunshot residue away? Was he wearing the same clothing, I don’t remember?

With no stippling on or around 13m’s wounds, pretty much seals the conclusion-it wasn’t him.

I think I read that the 11 year old described his shirt he was wearing when he shot her, and it was found on the floor in a.... bathroom maybe. I think he took a fast shower and changed before calling 911. Does soap and a shower get rid of gunshot residue? (oh, my search history just keeps getting worse)

Friction and washing can both easily remove GSR.
