    On Sunday, August 7, 2016, Lacy Murphy and her mother arrived in Puyallup as part of a vacation. At approximately 2:30 in the afternoon, Lacy set out alone to hike the Mt. Rainier area with the intention of returning that evening. She has not been seen or heard from since. The initial investigation led officers to her vehicle which was located in the Mowich area. A joint investigation is ongoing with the National Park Service, Pierce County Search and Rescue, and the Puyallup Police Department.

    Lacy Annette Murphy, 24, drove alone toward the mountain [Mount Rainier]to go on a hike near Mowich Lake about 2:30 p.m. Sunday and has not been seen nor heard from since, Puyallup [WA]police said in a news release.

    Investigators found her vehicle near the Mowich area, inside Mount Rainier National Park.

    Lacy Annette Murphy, 24, drove alone toward the mountain to go on a hike near Mowich Lake about 2:30 p.m. Sunday
    She had told her mother she was going to be back by 7:30 p.m.
    Investigators found her vehicle near the Mowich area, inside Mount Rainier National Park.


    Murphy was wearing a blue flannel shirt,
    red YMCA jacket,
    blue jeans
    blue hiking boots.
    She is 5-foot-3
    average build
    brown hair
    hazel eyes.


    Murphy was on a cross-country trip with her mother and they were staying at a bed and breakfast in Puyallup
    Murphy was due to fly to Alaska on Monday, while her mother was to fly home.


    Puyallup police, the National Park Service, and Pierce County Search and Rescue were conducting a joint investigation.
    Anyone with information about Murphy’s disappearance is asked to call the National Park Service dispatch at 360-569-6606.

    PUYALLUP — Search and rescue crews found a missing 24-year-old hiker Monday night.


    Crews found Lacy Annette Murphy after calling her name in the area she was slated to hike.
    Murphy responded to crews’ calls, the National Park Service said, and she was found off-trail down an embankment.


    Murphy was injured in some way, rescue crews said. The extent of her injuries was not immediately known.
    Crews worked in rugged terrain late in the evening to rescue Murphy, officials said, and will work throughout the night to extricate her.

    Great News! Even though it's summer in the Cascade mountains, it gets chilly at night. So many times people go missing in our forests never to be seen again. I'm SO glad they found her and she is ok.
