The Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a missing woman.

  • An investigation indicates that she has ties to Stevens County, and the Stevens County Sheriff's Office is assisting in trying to find Lopez as well.

"I know someone hurt her"; Family of missing woman last seen in Newport suspects foul play | News | khq.com

"I believe (she was murdered)," her mother Yolanda Rogers said. "She hasn't gotten a hold of me for my birthday. She didn't respond when I called her on her birthday. No Thanksgiving wishes, no Christmas wishes. She just disappeared. She's just gone. I think somebody hurt her. I think the rumors (of murder) that are going around are true."

[...]

... She was last known to be in the Newport area. Her mother says she has done some digging herself and learned her daughter sent a text to a friend prior to disappearing.

"It basically said...if something happened to her, it was not an accident," Rogers said. "I just want her body found...I just want her home. I'm never going to give up."

I hope they are gaining ground in the investigation to find Melinda. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound as though this case will have a positive outcome given the rumors of murder and all. There isn't even a specific date for when Melinda was last seen. Her last text concerns me. When was this text sent? Who was she talking to and who or what was she talking about? MOO but... perhaps they should check the Deeter Road area as well as cameras at Kalispel casino.

I found two more FBs for Melinda who is affectionately known as Nina.

"I promised myself and Melinda, I'm not leaving without her," said missing woman Melinda Lopez's mother. "I'm not going home without her."

YR packed up what she could from her home in Boise and is spending agonizing days in Newport looking for her missing daughter.

"Everybody is talking about it...but nobody wants to help me," she said. "I think she got caught up in something ... something bad."

[...]

Yolanda tracked down a text Melinda apparently sent shortly before disappearing essentially stating she was fearful for her life. With so much fear and uncertainty with the case, Yolanda just hopes our viewers will see something in someone you love, when you look at Melinda's photo.

"Oh God no, be careful of your granddaughter, or your sister....they could be next the one disappearing," she said. "And if anyone's listening, do the right thing. Please help me get Melinda home."

The Missing Q6 Cold Case
‎Q6 Cold Case: The Missing on Apple Podcasts
This episode digs into the disappearances of three adults, all with ties to Stevens County. Doyle Putnam, 65, vanished near Ford. Guy Geyer, 61, disappeared without a trace outside of Chewelah. Melinda Lopez had ties to Stevens County, but the 35-year-old was last spotted in Newport. While no one believes these cases are connected, their families fear there could be as many killers as there are cases. Someone knows something. Is it you?

How awful for Melinda's Mom :(

Is there anyway we can help her?

According to news reports she was out of contact with her family for months prior to her disappearance. In spite of that, her mother seems to have info on Melinda's recent life and is not afraid of voicing her suspicions about what happened and who was involved. I hope that doesn't put the mother in danger as well, especially if she's in the area.
