WA WA - Nancy Moyer, 36, Tenino, 6 March 2009

Thinking of Nancy tonight.

Four years ago, Nancy Moyer disappeared from her Tenino home. Now a new set of eyes and hears are breathing life into the case.

Fred Doughty, a retired police officer, has decided to pick up the case. Thursday afternoon, a team from his agency, Celtic Investigations, interviewed one of Moyer's co-workers at a restaurant in Lacey.

"She was looking forward to the weekend," Bev Poston told Doughty. "She was going out. I didn't ask her where she was going and I could kick myself now for it."
"I think she was probably murdered," said Doughty. "I felt that way from the beginning and the more I look into it, I feel stronger about it. And to be honest, I think it's somebody she knew."

Thank you Bev for keeping Nancy's case alive!!!

And thanks to retired LEO Fred Doughty and Celtic Investigations for picking up on the case.

To be honest, Knox, I'm not at all familiar with the case. I followed you over here from Keyes' thread. :) When I read the article and saw the retired LEO was working on the case, I wanted to give him a nod.

I just recently, was in this area and thought of Nancy.

Bump. Still wondering if Israel Keyes was involved with Nancy's disappearance. I also wonder about Nancy's neighbor reportedly hearing a woman yell, "Hurry up and get in the car!" during the night she disappeared. Perhaps the unknown woman was a accomplice of like a pimp who abducted Nancy or something like that. I doubt the likelihood of that being what happend, since Tenino is a bit rural, etc. JMO and :twocents:

I cant help but think Nancy may be whos remains were found on Little Hanaford Rd in Centralia. On Feb 28, 2014. Someone posted That they thought or saw her in a dream she was on Big Hanaford Rd in Centralia by water and something to do with power. Little Hanaford rd ends at Trans Alta Property which is Power and there is also a pound. Just seems wayyyy to close. Also they said something about an animal biting her fingers and hands and mentioned a chocolate Lab, or beaver. The remains were found when a man was walking his dog and they dog found the remains. wow so weird. this person is good really good. even if its not Nancy there were mentions of other missing persons from the area so she may have gotten on of them.

." He had a 10-pound weight he said he would use to "help her body sink" in a nearby swamp

I have been reading about this Howell and also found a map of all key points in his case. The statement I quoted above, just kind of makes you wonder. It is also eerie how close in proximity he really was to Nancy.

Howell asked a male witness somewhere near the area of Dave's Thriftway

a clerk at Dave's Thriftway in Tenino has confirmed that Moyer purchased some items

I am thinking he is responsible, just too many coincidences.

Howell, when interviewed regarding the disappearance of Nancy Moyer, denied any involvement. But given how Howell decided to plead guilty for the murder of Vanda Skau Boone to avoid a life sentence it is not surprising he would not admit to having committed any other crime for which conviction and sentencing might include extending his current incarceration (26 years). He might be mentally ill but it seems clear he does not want to spend the rest of his life in prison .. he told the sentencing judge he was sorry for what he did and hopes to have a family of his own someday. :cold:

Nancy Moyer lived less than one mile from where Howell lived with his father and investigators had even searched for Moyer along the bike trail where Howell attacked Boone.

Maybe if prosecutors offered Howell immunity now, he might be forthcoming about other crimes he might have committed .. including the Moyer abduction. It seems almost too obvious but without any evidence of a connection we might never know what happened.

"I think someone took her from her home," Moyer's sister, Sharon Wilbur, said Monday. "She would never leave her kids and run off on her own. That's not her."

Wilbur, who lives in nearby Rochester, Wash., said she last spoke to her sister the Friday that she disappeared. The two had chatted about a recent Mary Kay party Moyer had hosted and about how she was looking forward to the weekend.

I wonder if LE had been made aware of the Mary Kay party NM had hosted and if they had interviewed those who attended?

It’s been six years with no answers in the case of a missing Tenino woman. But the documents for the investigation into Nancy Moyer’s disappearance are not in a file blanketed with layers of dust and tucked away on a shelf in the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office...

While a previous Chronicle article noted that convicted murderer Bernard K. Howell was a person of interest, Watkins said he wouldn’t classify him as such at this point. “He’s one of these people that we’ve talked to more than once and we have no concrete evidence to support that he had anything to do with her disappearance,” Watkins said.

After Seven Years, No New Leads in Search for Missing Tenino Mom

Another year has passed, and detectives still don’t know what happened to a Tenino woman last seen seven years ago.

(...)

“Somebody knows. Somebody knows something, but unfortunately no one has come to us and said something,” said Detective Ben Elkins, of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

While Moyer’s body has never been found, Elkins, who investigates major crimes at the Sheriff’s Office, said he believes she is dead, and said he classifies the case as a “no-body homicide.”

Is Charlton connected to the 2009 disappearance of Nancy Moyer?

*

Moyer, a 36-year-old mother of two, was last seen in March 2009. The Thurston County case remains unsolved.*

*

It was in Thurston County where Charlton’s parents filed court documents for a restraining order and described Charlton making telling his mother to “beware” with a copy of “Hannibal,” a movie about serial killer Hannibal*Lecter. That incident happened in 2006.*

*

Contacted Tuesday,*Sgt. Carla Carter with the Thurston County Sheriff’s office said they were not making a link between the Moyer case and the Charlton arrest.

*

Told about his 2006 incident in Thurston County, Carter asked for Seattle Police contact information and said she would pass along the information to the lead detective in the Moyer case.

*

Carter said it was “worth looking into.”

How does her disappearance relate to Charton's incarceration? John Robert Charlton was convicted of a 2009 felony theft in Montana. Could he have killed her in 2009 and then moved to Montana? What is date timeline?
