"And in the end, I don’t really care who used the methamphetamine. I’m convinced beyond any doubt that they both knew that their children were being exposed and they took no steps to stop it," Svoboda said.

In addition to 20 months in prison, Bowers is not allowed to have “unsupervised contact with non-biological children” under the age of 18. Any future contact with her children “will be governed by the court in the dependency matters.”

“I’m not saying [Bowers] can't be at a family function where there's children, but she shall not be the supervisor of those children,” said Svoboda. “There will be a responsible adult there to take care of them.”

In her tidy home on a cul-de-sac in Elma, Washington, Jamie Jo Hiles surrounds herself with photos of Oakley Carlson, her dark-haired, brown-eyed former foster daughter.

It’s been two-and-a-half years since Oakley left Hiles’ home and was reunited with her biological parents. And it’s been 15 months since Oakley was last seen alive.

The case of the missing 5-year-old from Grays Harbor County has garnered international media attention and drawn scrutiny to her parents who recently pleaded guilty and were sentenced for child endangerment involving their other children.

They loved her so much and she seemed so happy with them. It breaks my heart to think of what she had to go through when returned to her monster bio parents.
WA State DCYF has gotten much more lenient when it comes to addicted parents. They have decided that it's not illegal for parents to be addicts and that doesn't make them bad parents. They have been returning many children home recently stating that one parent can watch the kids while the other one uses. CLEARLY they do not understand addiction. It's only going to get worse. What a waste of taxpayer money this (supposed) child welfare system is.

A reward for information regarding missing 5-year-old Oakville girl Oakley Carlson passed $20,000 this week, according to the fund’s organizers.

The reward is for credible information that leads to Oakley’s whereabouts or for information that leads to the arrest of anyone involved in her disappearance.

[...]

The Hiles’ efforts to raise a reward fund are aided by the Light the Way Missing Persons Advocacy Project, which describes itself as “a small, private team of individuals who advocate for families of the missing and attempt to locate missing people by using various open source investigation techniques.”

[...]

Organizers’ next goal is to raise the reward fund to at least $25,000 by May 25, which is National Missing Children’s Day.

The reward expires on Dec. 6, 2022.

In lieu of the reward not being claimed or extended, the funds would then be used at the discretion of Erik and Jamie Jo Hiles. Examples include providing a service and headstone for Oakley if necessary, setting up a college fund or scholarship in Oakley’s name, or setting up a trust fund for Oakley’s siblings.

I feel horrible for the Hiles, I can't imagine being in their shoes. I wish they could sue the State-

It's time to contact GovInslee , his staff, & #waleg to ask for a review of #OakleyCarlson's @waDCYF case!

Below is a link to him talking about the Omsbud complaint @jamiejo2005 filed in Feb, different than an outside agency review that we are asking for.

This is a 25 min video -- it is very well done.

The event called, "Paint the Night Pink for Oakley,” will begin at 6 p.m. on July 16 in McCleary. An auction featuring donations from all over the state, including Seattle Mariners tickets, zoo and aquarium tickets, a getaway for two at the Lucky Eagle Casino, a police ridealong with the Elma Police Department and more will begin at 7 p.m.

All auction sales, the $40 entrance fee — which includes dinner and two drink tickets — and sales from the Whiskey Wagon mobile bar on site will go toward the Justice for Oakley Carlson Reward Fund, which is a nonprofit with 501c3 status. The fund passed $20,000 last May.

Tickets are available online at Paint the Night Pink for Oakley.

The reward is for credible information that leads to Oakley’s whereabouts or for information that leads to the arrest of anyone involved in her disappearance and expires Dec. 6, 2022.

Oakley’s parents, currently serving sentences for child endangerment linked to charges connected to their other children, are set to be released from custody within the coming months. Oakley's mother, Jordan Bowers, has a release date next January. Oakley’s father, Andrew Carlson, is going to be let out of the Grays Harbor County Jail August 3.

Detectives said they fear Andrew Carlson may leave the area, or even destroy evidence in Oakley’s case.

Paint the Night Pink for Oakley, an auction-dinner fundraiser to raise money for the reward fund and to spread awareness for the disappearance of 5-year-old Oakville native Oakley Carlson was held on Saturday, July 16, in McCleary.

The event was sponsored by Light the Way Missing Persons Advocacy Project, a nonprofit organization that helps raise awareness and funds private investigations for families missing loved ones, as well as Oakley’s foster parents Jamie Jo and Erik Hiles.

The reward fund, which previously amounted to a little more than $25,000, now sits at $75,000. Jamie Jo, who previously commented that her goal was to have the reward fund up to $50,000 by the end of the calendar year, said the event was an incredible time and that she can’t thank the community enough for their support.

“We had an incredible time, and I can’t begin to express how grateful Erik and I are for everybody’s support,” Jamie Jo said. “We raised a grand total of approximately $49,245.81 between bidders, ticket sales, and many, many, generous donors.”

While there is no fundraising event currently scheduled for the remainder of July, another gathering is set to happen at Grays Harbor County Jail on July 31 prior to the release of Andrew Carlson, Oakley’s biological father, on Aug. 3.

The gathering, which is advised to be peaceful, will begin at 10:30 a.m. outside the Grays Harbor County Jail on Sunday, July 31.

I hope they watch him closely. It's such a small tight knit community that I don't think he will be able to go anywhere where people don't recognize him. It makes me sick that they are getting out and don't have to explain where their missing child is.

This is a case where I want to encourage us all to have conservative faith in the police. If we ran a station, we’d trail this guy, right? The answer to what happened to her might (disgustingly) lie in what this guy does when they release him. I’d be on him like velcro. I am confident LE will be too, though I hope he doesn’t notice, so let’s make this the last we speak of that? He doesn’t strike me as all that bright.
