THE wife of a man who has been missing since Sunday has issued an emotional appeal for him to come home.

47-year-old Anthony Oldham from Penegoes near Machynlleth has not been seen since Sunday and police officers say they are becoming increasingly concerned about his welfare.

Dyfed Powys Police this evening released an appeal from Anthony’s family who are also desperately concerned.

Anthony’s wife Natalie has appealed directly to him, saying: "Anthony, we need to know that you are ok and want you home.

“We are missing you - the children and the whole community want you home.

“Please, go and knock on someone’s door or let anyone know you’re safe."

Anthony is described as 6ft tall, bald, of medium build and was last seen wearing black trousers and a dark t-shirt.

A SEARCH for a Penegoes man, whose disappearance is “out of character”, is continuing.

Anthony Oldham, 47, left his home address in Penegoes, Machynlleth, at around 4pm on Sunday, 12 September, to go for a walk and hasn’t been seen since.

He was reported missing, by his family, to Dyfed Powys Police around 9.15pm that evening.

Police are currently searching the Machynlleth and surrounding area.

Sergeant David Hawksworth, one of the Police Search Advisor leads on the investigation, said: “Anthony is known to be a regular walker, more so since he has recently got a pet dog. However, he didn’t take the dog with him on this occasion because he didn’t want to over exert it.

“It’s out of character for him to go missing.”

Police are currently investigating two unconfirmed sightings of Anthony in the local area.

Helping with the search is the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue Team, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and HM Coastguard.

“We unfortunately have found no trace of Anthony so far. At present, it’s a live and active search and it’s focused on the place he was last in,” Sgt Hawksworth added.

“We’re concerned because it’s out of character for him to go missing, it’s the first occasion, and the length of time without him being positively sighted. Now that were on day four, we’re throwing everything we can into finding him.

“It would be different if he was known to be somebody who would go wild camping or into the wild by himself all the time.”

On the next step, Sgt Hawksworth said: “We will be maintaining the deployment of our specialist search assets and utilising out partner agencies depending on their skills.

“There will still be a concerted search effort by the police. We’re actively looking for Anthony and hope he is safe and well.

“If he does see or read any of the media appeals, Natalie and his family are very concerned and just want him home.

“We’re still confident, we’re putting the resources into finding him. The weather hasn’t been horrendous, so we’re hoping he’s found shelter somewhere if he is injured.

“It could very much be the case that he’s fallen, or that he’s sprained his ankle for example. It’s wild up there, even just outside of Machynlleth.”

    Search continues for Penegoes man
