Really? Can I ask why you thought it was funny? I thought JW looked stupid, it was out of context and reminded me of a kid trying to copy a parent's joke without knowing the meaning. Perhaps it's just different senses of humour and humor. :) The smirk on JA's face said it all. I thought it was funnier when JM then took up the challenge and asked ALV a couple of questions about JA's diaries which proved ALV's memory wasn't all that after all.

exactly what u said made it funny.

To me, it seems the journal entries are slanted to make her look innocent and Travis look guilty. I might be reading too much into them, but she is so calculated. I'm only recently catching up, but is it possible or probable that she would have considered killing him as early as April? She could have started making entries that would give her cover.

After all, we know, from the fake phone call after the murder, etc., that she had it in her head to make herself look innocent in any way possible. She loves all this planning and drama and play-acting, and TA, sadly, was, at best, secondary to the production of "The Jodi Show." And when he made her mad enough, his role was eliminated - literally.

She gets mad AND she gets even. A true sociopath, with, as been pointed out, several borderline characteristics.

Did you see the follow-up version of the phone conversation? The second version is all Travis and no JA. The DT had the conversation edited to only show Travis's side of the conversation.

Before either version of the taped conversations were played, the DT, Prosecution, and Arias met in the Judge's chambers to discuss the admission of new evidence (?). I believe it was the day after JA discussed the V-Day gift. Many of us here thought the meeting was about the "letter" than JA brought up at the end of the prior day's testimony (V-Day "letter"). The day began with JA being escorted back to the court-room, by a very happy and smiling female guard. JA, on the other hand, was red-eyed and appeared to have been crying and was in a defensive stance (arms-folded).

I think that meeting may not have been about the "V-day letter", but rather about the "sex-tape". I believe the DT had originally planned to submit the edited version of the conversation, Juan objected and it was ruled the entire tape would be played. IMOO

I believe (hope?) we'll see something similar with the journal entries, and their authenticity will be highly-questionable.

BTW. I have a question for other WSers, regarding the recorded conversation. JA said Travis wanted her to record it, because his phone didn't have the capability. Did she say it was recorded with her cell phone, or the one that Gus gave her? (I'm a bit confused about the number of cell phones in her testimony...did she have two or three within that short time span? One was dropped in a shake? One was lost and later found by Aunt - the "sex-tape" phone?)

Dispite Ralph's threats of sending her to the moon, the obvious wearer of the pants in the family was Alice.
It's still funny IMO.

And IIRC Ralph (Gleason) was all bluster, he never laid a finger on Alice.

The journals are an outlet for her alternate reality, she does no wrong in that universe. Every journal entry we have heard, and even what JM pushed ALV for, there is nothing 'that bad' so said ALV in testimony Thurs. IMO, JA grew into what she became, it started way before TA, he just caught the fully 'blossomed' version.

I will say this, and will take all back-lash anyone wants to give, but JA has something mental going on, she fits several DSM-IV (I have a copy of DSM-IV and some intel in this) categories, I can't begin to narrow down to a diagnosis without a full eval, which it does not appear anyone has done so far, though RS tried but fitted his diagnosis to the DT as he was paid to do and will pay for that for years, he violated ethics on many levels in this case, the patient's treatment and well-being, beyond keeping her out of a murder one charge, was not on his radar.

Given where her mind is and what she did, she is guilty, that is my position. Fire away :)

There's a whole thread dedicated to that topic. I don't think you'll find much opposition really.

I think she's a text book psychopath ... But you won't find that in the DSM.

I was just sitting here thinking about what the people who have been counseled by ALV or listened to her advice in her seminars must be thinking. I know surely some of them may have been watching this trial and can't believe that that a person who has always been in their mind a fighter of abuse, is now calling an abused man the abuser and believing every word a true abuser says. I remembered another fairy tale, The Emperor's New Clothes. I don't think many of them will ever look at her words the same, for alas, the king (queen) has no clothes.:what:

I see no reason at all for her to "put" the camera in the washer. AND turn the washer on if she wanted them to find it? BBM

She would leave it on the night table, or in his closet, neatly sitting on a shelf.

Nobody that I know would intentionally put a camera in a washing machine and turn it on Wash and expect it would function at all. And it almost didn't.

However if your theory is she meant to leave it behind so they'll find salacious pictures of Travis and her on it (proof that HE did like her, he found her sexy, he wanted her, they did bad things together and who cares about the Mormon Church, she wasn't Mormon (not in my eyes, she does not have the normal thought process of a person that can reasonably join anything let alone be sincere in her religious thoughts)

Then maybe she left it behind, but she would have still intended to leave it not in a place of harm, so the washing machine was still an accident.

But I think she meant to take it but bundled it up and could not find it. I think...not 100% sure as the argument is quite compelling, if she intended to take it, why take any time to delete crap from it.. Do that later..

ok, let's ask her.. she'll tell us the truth

I think the main reason she washed the camera was bc it was covered in blood - it had to be - getting kicked around the murder scene while she was stabbing TA. I don't think she realized they'd be able to retrieve the photos she deleted. Silly girl though - I would have thought she was smart enough to just take the memory card out of the camera - removing all risk of the photos being retrieved.
Maybe she couldn't figure out how to do that - it being a new camera and her being so pressed for time she didn't have time to read the manual.

Her putting a down payment on a $249,000.00 house on a salary of maybe $1500 per month is nearly impossible. Her work money would pay her car payment maybe, and some living. It's virtually impossible at that age she would put together a years salary and put it down on a home

Yeah she has Axis II out the ying-yang....which of course is not mental. She had psych workups in prison which showed no mental illness, IIRC. Had there been something there you can bet Nurmi et. al would have gone for the insanity defense (even though having a diagnosis does not automatically qualify one for the insanity defense) had there been something, because of the sheer brutality of the crime. Alas, there was nothing.

She never thought she would get caught. Never thought she would have to explain anything,

That says a lot for her basic dysfunction, IMO. Under the best circumstances she was bound to have been questioned extensively.

OK!~caught up for now... I am literally going to have to MAKE MYSELF
:sweep:

Hanging out here is so much more fun! :(
bbl

I'm hanging out here putting off picking up dog poop in the yard. It's my turn... lol tried bribing son... Offered money, dining out, homework pass ....

You do but it isn't called that in the DSM.

jodi was far way from travis. It was her choice to continue communication. Every cell phone, twitter or email account has an 'ignore' feature. Travis was trying to get away from jodi.

Jodi went to travis. He did not go to her.

exactly.

I have to tell u guys - I let out a massive LOL when ALV asked JM if he was angry.
I don't know if I could have suppressed it in court.

It was a dumb move. I would bet good money that's her go to line in situations when she is confronted and she feels cornered. She was probably saving it for a more dramatic "moment" but Juan rattled her and forced her to waste a good shot.

No ALv he's not angry at YOU. He's angry for justice. He's angry because Travis can't be. So, quit with the snarky attitude. Professional, my azz.

It's icky that these professional witnesses act so indignant they are being cross examined. Not the first rodeo for either of them.

ITA!! I was talking to my husband about that. I said that if my neurologist was called to the stand in my trial, he would answer questions with absolutely NO emotions--he would answer each question dispassionately and objectively. He would give his medical opinion regarding my migraines.

The fact that ALV reacted as if she was being personally attacked or challenged on every question JM posed. She was combative and unhelpful--the exact opposite of how she was as a defense witness. She also kept looking to the defense as if for help.

I'm praying that she changes her attitude on Monday. I hope she takes this more seriously and asks her friends in the gallery to refrain from outbursts.

I don't know what all JM has planned for ALV, but I hope asking her to define "stalking" is near the top.

Aww Anagrammy, I didn't mean for it to come out as I was making fun of people who have been abused. I found the little snippet of the vid they linked amusing is all. I DO NOT condone it, it was not meant to offend. I will refrain from commenting any longer. My sincere apologies.

You are fine. We enjoy your posts. Knew what you meant. Sometimes we get fired up on issues that are sensitive to us personally.

It's undeniable - the chick is wacked.

Yes...in college, i was stalked by a complete stranger in the early 80s. Never heard of stalking then, so I was too dumb to be very scared.

It went like this:

1. Hang up calls for three weeks

2. Normal looking short guy, but total stranger, shows at my door one afternoon. I open the door thinking my car was blocking his or something and this guy says, "hi, Marla" and goes into a SPEECH about how great it would be if we went out and how Perfect we were for each other, yadda, yadda. I had to stop him to ask him his name. Then I told him I was flattered but I didn't go out with strangers, and hoped he understood. He left.

My roommate came out and said, "THAT's who's been calling and hanging up!"

Whoa...he knew my name, address, phone number....pre Internet! What was really creepy is we lived at the back of our complex facing trees. You couldn't see where we lived from the parking lot.

3. He leaves that day and hang up calls stop cold turkey.

4. Three weeks later I get home from class and roommate says we got another hang up call. Decide we will call the next day and change our number.

5. That night, I answer the phone and he actually speaks and goes into how good it would be if I just gave him a chance and went out at least once...that he had a "real good feeling about us."

6. I ream him. "Stop calling and hanging up and go away! I'm NEVER going out with you." I slam the phone down.

7. He actually did go permanently away. Hang up calls stop, etc.

8. Over a year later I'm at a concession stand at the movies and FEEL someone staring at me. I turn around and he is on the stairs looking down at me GLARING, like I was his ex wife and burned all his Clothes or something. That was the last time i saw him but his face is burned in my brain for life.

Suffice to say, I believe when Travis went off on Jodi the last week in May, it was cos he felt he had to PUSH HARD, to get her to GO AWAY.

I was very lucky. My heart goes out to Travis and his family.

:what: Thank goodness it worked out okay. I think you're right about Travis -- we all want to know what the event was that set him off, but I think you're right in saying that he really wanted to make sure she got the message.

:cow:

This is like watching the smoking in MadMen. The arc of time has turned and it is no longer considered sophisticated or "in" to be killing yourself and bystanders with a nicotine addiction.

When I was raising children, they climbed all over inside the car. If you tied them up with a safety harness, like I did, you were considered a freak, like an extremist prepper hoping for a disaster.

Likewise, the ship has sailed on a man threatening to punch a woman with a closed fist being seen as funny.

I love Jackie Gleason and have fond memories of "The Honeymooners," but displaying acceptance of domestic violence via humor is unacceptable today.

Yeah, I was watching I Love Lucy recently. Same dynamic. She was always spending HIS money and getting he was threatening her. She had to beg for every penny to run the household. In some of them, Ricky put her over the knee for a spanking.

According to Jodi's Family, who had never met Travis, Jodi claimed they were in love and on the path to marry.
