Since it's possible that many of those children at the YFZ ranch are some of Warren Jeff's children (or those he appropriated by reassigning his father's wives to himself) I thought it'd be interesting to see what was known about his various wives and/or children.

There's conflicting information on the net about how many wives or children Warren Jeffs currently has. Most estimates were between 40-80 for wives, but there are accounts that say he has up to 180. At various times, (depending on his age) the estimates were between 40-100, but other more recent estimates state 200-250.

Of those children, a percentage are probably his biologically, but some surely must be children from the wives of his father Rulon or other wives he's assigned to himself.

I think this wife's grave is one that exists on the ranch and LE already knew about.

One of Jeffs' wives, Barbara Ann Barlow, died inside the compound in July 2004 at age 39. But Doyle, whose duties as justice of the peace include investigating deaths, determined she died of cancer as reported by her sister Annette, also married to Jeffs.

By the time he died, Rulon had 67 wives, most of them young women. Within seven days of his father's death, Warren had taken his "mothers" as his own wives - Bistline says that only two women dared stand up to him, and they were exiled.

Immediate after Janetta Jessop's 16th birthday the girl had abruptly disappeared from her parents home. According to Suzanne, I went up to her room and all her stuff was gone. When Suzanne Jessop inquired what had happend to Janetta, she recalls, their mother "just kind of looked at me with this blank stare and says back "Well, I don't know." Suzanne speculatees that Janetta had been taken as a plural wife by Warren Jeffs, who was 47 at the time. At least two (and possibly three) of Janetta's older sisters had already been taken as wives by Jeffs.

*Janetta refused to answer the most pertinent questions posted by county case workers. She neither confirmed nor denied to authorities that she was one of Warren Jeff's spiritual wives. When official interviewers asked if she was married to Jeffs, the girl simply replied "I'd rather not say.

Carolyn Jessop: Yes, I know Warren personally very well. My husband was very close to him and several of Merrill's daughteres married Warren.

Some of Carolyns' stepdaughters were married to Jeffs, and she feared his temper. She writes: "One day he brought one of his wives into the (School) auditorium, which was packed with boys. Annette had a long braid that fell past her knees. Warren grabbed the braid and twisted and twisted it until she was on her knees and he was ripping hair from her head. He told the boys that this was how obedient their wives had to be to them."

Musser was one of Rulon Jeff's wives that Warren intended to appropriate and I believe she's the one who left before he could.

    http://www.freedomszone.com/aggregator.php?id=40404
Musser was married to Jeff's father, Rulon Jeffs, when she was a teenager and he was an elderly man. During the Warren Jeffs trial, Musser testified that "Jeffs told her he would "take me down" if she caused problems for the FLDS Church." Musser is the oldest sister of Elissa Wall, who was the key witness in the Warren Jeff trial."

The fundamentalist sect is notoriously secretive, but details about Rulon and Jeff's lifestyle emerged in 1999, when they sold a seven-acre 1.9 million walled compound in Sandy, Utah where they had lived with their lives and children since the early 1980s.

Women's bedrooms in Rulon Jeff's house were decorated with wallpaper saying "Keep Sweet No Matter What." Their doors were marked with red, yellow or green tags depending on whether they were ovulating.

Carolyn Jessop, whose step-daughter is Naomi Jessop Jeffs.
She described Naomi Jeffs as a beautiful woman with long blond hair going down to her knees. In addition to being one of Warren Jeffs wives, Naomi, 32, was also one of his "mothers." She was married to Rulon when she was 17 and she was Rulon's favorite wife, Jessop said Tuesday. "She was one of the first of Rulons' wives to marry Warren.

Naomi Jeffs was in the car with Warren when he was arrested.

When Jeffs was arrested, he was wearing an apparently very comfortable pair of shorts and white T-shirt. One of his wives who accompanied him was dressed in slacks. Both asked to be able to change into their regular religious clothes before being photographed.

This was from Wikipedia but I've seen it stated on other articles.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Jeffs
One of Jeffs' statements after his fathers death was directed at high-ranking officials in the church: "I won't say much, but I will say this "hands off my father's wives." Then addressing the recent widows, he said, "You women will lives as if father is still alive and in the next room." WIthin a week, Warren had married all but two of his father's several dozen wives. After this, he continued to marry more women, many of whom were close relatives.

Norene Nielsen Birk Jeffs became a wife of Rulon Jeffs, her brother Wendell Neilsen is one of his faithful members and counselor. Norene Jeffs wasn't allowed contact with the rest of her children outside the community. She died and her family was never notified.

"In the early 1990s as best her family can tell, was spiritually sealed to Rulon Jeffs. She became one of his wives, in what her family describes as a caretaker marriage.

"After Rulon Jeffs died in 2002 and his son took over, i became "just about impossible" to learn anythign about her."

Author Dr. Western went undercover in the communities for her new book "Inside the World of Warren Jeffs." Western said "these little girls are just chattle. For instance Warren Jeffs got a 12 year old and a 14 year old for his birthday present."

"At last count Warren had over 100 wives."

Musser tells about their daily routine while in hiding.
    http://ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=487221
"Musser, Vivian and their infant son Levi made a 19-hour trip to an empty house in Williamsburg, Colorado about 30 miles west of Pueblo." "The house was the first of three in Colorado, Williamsburg, Florence, Westcliffe where the family would live over seven months, with a rotating cat of Jeff's wives, which Musser estimates could number as high as 180." "They wanted to be with Warren so bad. He would tell them that they were not good enough to be with him. It really tampered with their hearts, messed up their minds." The women, about eight in the house at a time, were between ages 25 and 30."

Warren Steed Jeffs: December 3, 1955 in San Francisco, California. Warren Jeff's mother Merilyn was the fourth wife of his father.

"Jeffs was born in San Francisco on Dec. 3, 1955. At the time, his mother was hiding out in the Bay Area following a 1953 government raid and roundup of Mormons living in Short Creek."

In 2002 Rulon Jeffs died at age 92 having married at least nineteen women and fathered at least sixty children. **(65 according to Elaine Jeffs)

Then after three days, another letter was distributed accusing Warren Jeffs of marrying many of his father’s wives included his own mother and encouraging FLDS members to revolt. Louis died four months later and nothing came of the prophetic calling referred to in the letter.

Warren Jeffs: Okay. I have this message. The lord has intervened and detected me to myself. He has shown me that I have not held priesthood since I was 20 years old, having been immoral with a sister and a daughter. And father pointing his finger to me was father's test on all of us.

After Rulon's death, several people claimed the prophet had set apart Warren to take over the sect. Who made that claim? Mary Fischer, one of Rulon Jeffs' younger wives. Isaac Jeffs, the brother who was with Warren when he was arrested.

And Naomi Jeffs, another of Rulon's younger wives, who subsequently married Warren and also was with him when he was arrested. In January, Warren spoke to Naomi, whom he referred to as No. 91, and told her the same thing he was told everyone else: that he was not a prophet.

In her last years before fleeing, Jessop secretly sold NuSkin cosmetics to other women in the community.

"A lot of my customers were [then leader] Rulon Jeffs' wives," she ays. "They were incredibly competitive - they weren't allowed to do makeup, but I sold a lot of nutritional products, like vitamin shakes and hair vitamins."

Most of his time is spent managing church affairs, but he also is described as an accomplished singer/songwriter. Among Jeffs' credits are "Zion from Above" and "He Will Be Renewed," an ode to his father. He has embellished several well-known LDS hymns with new verses.

And, accompanied by some wives, he has produced tapes and CDs that are available to followers.

I'm pretty sure that one of the mom's that said she was away from the complex the day of the raid and was upset that she didn't know whee her children were is one of Warren's wives. She was actually visiting Warren when the raid went down.

    Williamsburg, Colorado
Jeffs called the next day. He told Musser that some of his wives would soon arrive and explained he was to set up the home, do the shopping, run errands and "pretty much be a father figure and take care of them while he couldn't" - all funded by FLDS tithes.

Musser said numerous caretakers like himself ran safe houses for Jeffs' family. He estimates that Jeffs has around 180 wives, most believed to be wives only in a spiritual sense.

Many were formerly sealed to his father, Rulon, with whom, Jeffs has promised, they will be reunited in Heaven.

They were real familiar with just moving around," he said. "They had very little to haul." Jeffs' wives filled their days reading scriptures; talking; and sewing the sacred, ankle-to-wrist undergarments worn by faithful FLDS members. Musser avoided contact with neighbors, and the women were forbidden to leave the home. He tried to ease the strain of captivity by fencing in the yard so Jeffs' wives could go out for fresh air and exercise.
Even so, some women refused to venture out.
