I’ll try and find the article, but a news report said that the cameras were monitored by Wisconsin state authorities.

They saw activity and alerted local law enforcement that there was a break in. Police quickly apprehended the thief.
Thank you. I figured it was LE, but with this case you just never know. Lol.

Some interesting new details (BBM):

The phone from which the call was made lay on the floor inside
the modest, taupe-colored home.

"The phone isn’t near anyone so I don’t know if it got kicked," Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald of Barron County told Fox News on Tuesday. "It was closer to Denise than to James."

"No one talked on that call and we don't know who made it. We heard voices but we can’t make out what was said," he said, adding that it sounded as though the call was made in a room separate from the commotion.

"We do believe Jayme was home at the time the call was made," Fitzgerald noted.

The thick plotens.

Not sure if this article has been posted yet. Am I reading that right when it says they have all three phones?

The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation used a specially-trained dog to sniff out electronic devices at the Closs home, but none of the devices that were found have yielded any clues, including the three cellphones that belonged to Jayme and her parents, Fitzgerald said.

You are reading it right. That is the first I've heard/read about James' phone. That would clear some questions providing it was correctly quoted be the news

Keep in mind it could have been something within the house that was targeted and not a person. Jayme could have been taken to throw off the investigation.

Just a question, could some electronic device have been planted in their home w/o their knowledge, possibly something that interferes with casino operations?

was just going to post this it is some new information.

Fitzgerald would not say whether the killer shot through the door but local news footage shows investigators carrying it away from the scene -- covered with what looks like bullet holes. Fitzgerald confirmed to Fox News that the door was undergoing forensic analysis. He also would not elaborate on the type of gun used in the crimes, citing the sensitivity of the investigation. James Closs kept hunting rifles inside the home but all have been accounted for.

This is interesting I don't know it we ever saw "bullet holes" in the door i wonder if they had a local guy on scene that got a better look at it or some footage that hasn't been publicly shown or if they are taking license with what we saw.

Also, not sure if the bullet holes in the door part is true (BBM):

"With no suspects, no sighting of the child and scarce physical evidence one month after the Oct. 15 murders, police in the small town of Barron are scrutinizing the few clues they have, starting with the mysterious 911 call and a front door riddled with bullet holes.

Has anyone found this footage of the "bullet riddled" door being taken away? I think they might be referring to the glass storm door with pumpkin window clings?

Haven't seen any pics of the main door, only full-glass storm outer door.

If reporters did see it, and were asked to withhold from public, it must be frustrating that it's coming out. These details help them quickly discern if someone was there/saw it first-hand, or not.

Last thing they need is weirdos falsely confessing, or pointing the finger at innocent people.

I thought the same thing- if they have everyone's phones then they are looking for something else. A concealed listening device or camera, or something that is missing like a tablet, or a camera etc... Police putting a camera up at a crime scene is not all that typical according to a friend of mine in LE.
Isn't James' cell still missing?

Both mother and daughter attended a family birthday party at around 4 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the home of Denise Closs's sister, Jennifer Smith, who lives on the other side of town. At around 10 p.m. that night, Smith spoke with Closs by phone from her home. Nothing appeared amiss, according to family and police.

"At 10 p.m. we know everybody was at the house and accounted for," Fitzgerald told Fox News.

here another tidbit i guess it's open to interpretation but to me it implies Jim was home at 10pm.

I remember seeing that a family member told a reporter that the door was shot in. That is the only time I can recall hearing about the door. It hasn't been mentioned again so I just discounted it.

James phone was never "missing" they just had never mentioned it one way or the other, but the article linked below seemed to suggest they have it.

Since I'm on a Google StreetView kick today, I'll post this bit of oddness which is very likely an illusion. Keep in mind the StreetView photos of the house are from October 2016 so are two years old.

Here's the area of the deck at full Google resolution (which is low):

Here I've cropped it down to a smaller area but still at the same resolution:

Here I've had a program resample it to increase resolution to make it larger. Not really gaining true detail but just to make it larger and a bit smoother:

Note what appears to me to be a stack of picnic coolers, perhaps? The red things. Who needs that many? Maybe they're something else but they're not what I'm looking at. Doesn't that rather look like a person? Note the same set of StreetView images show no cars in the driveway. Here's my probable optical illusion outlined:

One could wonder if there was a long-time stalker. It's likely leaves near the Google camera that just make a nice illusion. But I am curious about the stack of coolers(?).

Hunting. Fishing. Plenty of beer,

My hubby said a coworker was complaining to his wife once that his feet where freezing when he went hunting. Why did she not pack his wool socks.

She said she packed them in his gun case. Lol

Interesting a lot of information has been released for the first time this week in various stories in the last 3 days. I don't think any of it is necessarily a game change, but it is good to have more info.

If the sisters texted at 8:30, was it normal to still speak on the phone 90 minutes later, I wonder?

I don't see why not? I text all the time with family just to say, "hey call me later" or sometimes I text a question and they reply, "can't text now I'll call you later" (one of my friends has this as a Siri activated auto message if she is driving and someone texts-- not sure how that works but the phone knows when it's in a moving car). Also, Denise has two sisters. We don't know if she texted and spoke on the phone to the same one. JMO.

I still can't make my mind up on this case, so many scenarios.

1. Jayme was the target
2. James and/or Denise were the target
3. All 3 were targeted (Jayme spared for unknown reasons)
4. A random attack
5. A robbery gone wrong
6. Mistaken identity/wrong property targeted

I always thought 1 and possibly 2, now i'm wondering about 4.

I feel like possibly 1 and 4 combined. Or possibly 7. An acquaintance they had only met once or twice.

If these new articles are to be trusted - new information:
1.) James, Jayme, and Denise were at home at 10 pm
2.) All three of their phones are in LEs hands
3.) Front door shot
4.) Denise's cell phone was closer to her body than James

This is all extremely helpful to finally know!
I didn't ever doubt though that a perp took Denise's phone, disconnected the call and threw it...interesting though that the officer says it might have been 'kicked' instead

And some more information related to the scope of the investigation
FBI examines more video in search for Jayme Closs
About 80 surveillance videos were collected initially from businesses and other locations, according to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald. The FBI last week expanded the perimeter of surveillance video collection beyond the county as they search for clues in Jayme's disappearance and was analyzing the video at its Milwaukee office, he said.
And ...
Squad car dashcam video was also reviewed for possible leads.
