Black gloves are often heavier grade gloves. They’re thicker and offer more protection. The purple gloves are general exam gloves, offering protection but don’t offer the level of protection black and brown gloves do

I had asked about the neighbor hearing a car because I also agree this road is most likely not very heavily trafficked in the middle of the night. I do not live in WI but I live in a Midwestern state near many small towns like Barron. I drive through towns like this for work. Just the other day, I was driving home on rural highways like this at 9 PM and barely saw anyone...I would assume at 1 AM, traffic would be even less. A loud car engine or fast driving car COULD possibly stand out to a neighbor at that hour.

With almost a week gone past now, I am leaning more toward someone in the periphery of their life. IMO, if a co-worker of a parent or a family member was to blame, I think LE would know this by now. Wouldn't it be really obvious if a co-worker stopped going to work after this happened or was acting very strangely? I am sure they have been interviewed. Family members would also really stand out unless this was some HUGE family cover-up which I don't see. JMO of course and anything is possible, but I feel like the people closest to them (figuratively speaking) would have been questioned right away.

This reminds me of the killing of the mom and teenage daughters in CT circa 2007-2009. Maybe the unsub(s) followed them home after seeing them out somewhere and did not intend for this to escalate to the point it did. Someone was tied to chair, dad walked in unexpectedly, panic ensued. Too bad the neighbors didn't notice if a strange vehicle was in the driveway when they came home at 11:15. I do think there was more than 1 unsub. IMO

Again possible, but statistically it’s not as likely

True, but also no evidence he wasn’t in the house, right? There are many great points made here but still so much unknown, I can’t shake feeling perp was inside before shots heard. Do we know if family owned a gun?

There are so many woods up in that area. So many small lakes, so many back roads. It makes you shudder. Where is Jayme???

I feel like that's a bit hyperbolic . This area has one of the lowest crime rates *in the country*. There is almost nowhere in America less violent or dangerous than Barron Conty, Wisconsin.

Not saying things dont happen because obviously....

But there's a lot of people in these threads that are making it sound like there are just gangs of meth-heads roaming the streets of Barron in packs.

    It just isn't like that.

The DM story seems to be inaccurate re the father being alive when LE arrived.

Clarification: Chilling details revealed in dispatch record

    bbm

ETA: The inference from the logs is that LE thought James answered the door to the killer(s). moo

It’s a major roadway leading to and from a casino. I know it’s not bumper to bumper LA traffic but I stand by what I said. Enough traffic that a single car wouldn’t be noticeable to officers arriving.

Then those people would be telling all to save their lives. They would want the perp captured like yesterday

I believe they did. In the transcript of the dispatch, they requested such things as pol cam and drones. Also press info has revealed they used drones and infrared to search house and surroundings. How far back they searched, I don't know. But a drone would cover a good amount of the area. imo

thanks Jax! FYI the article I referenced is still posted as second lead story. 'A lot of yelling' was heard in grim 911 call made the morning 13-year-old Jayme Closs vanished | Daily Mail Online

“Their teenage daughter Jayme Closs is believed to have been at home at the time of the call but was gone by the time officers arrived, which was less than 10 minutes later, the 911 call log showed, as reported by Fox News on Friday.

Her wounded father answered the door for police before dying from the gunshots, Fox News reported based on its interpretation of the log.”
(BBM). - and not all news sources necessarily report fact but their interpretations of information...

I agree MsBetsy. I think her mom's way is normal for many. I have myself done the same thing. When you live in a rural area there can often be quite a distance between homes and/or businesses making dropping off and coming back for pick up inconvenient and costly. It is a different lifestyle from those who may live in a city or even the suburbs. I don't even live in a rural area anymore, but am surrounded by it with many of my children's friends living rurally. I have driven 45 minutes one way to take mine to birthday parties many times. Sometimes there is a way to make yourself scarce, such as running an errand, but often times not. I know that some may be picturing the mom as hovering during these outings, but it may not be the case. She possibly found herself a quiet corner to be present from a distance, as many like myself have done. We did usually have multiple moms in the same situation so often there was another mom to keep you company.

The few personal tidbits we have paint the mother/daughter relationship as a close one.

There are 2 roads, 13th Street and 12th Street that the kidnapper(s) would have been able to turn down before the police ever passed them I believe. Neither are more than a minute away from the Closs home.

And unfortunately once inaccurate info is posted, too many sources don't make corrections. They leave it for click bait, imho.

ETA: Good to see the local press get the clarification from the sheriff.

i have been thinking of motive as we all have.

Someone posted that dad went to the door because he heard it being kicked in and was shot. That makes sense.

So to me that says dad was not the target. He is dead. Finished , Move on.

There were pictures of the kicked in door in a previous thread. The frame was not splintered. It was the door that was cracked and the door appeared to be at least two inches thick. Think of how strong a kick it would take to crack a thick wooden door.

Perhaps others think kicking in a door is easy. I would think that in order for someone to think this is a good method, there would have to be practice. Perhaps this method has been used before.

Mamy people have hollow core doors in their home which are easy to punch in. The exterior door is not like the doors many people have in their homes.

So what was the point of the home invasion?
