I still don't get why not allow the letter. If a dying murder victim wrote "John shot me" in their own blood, shouldn't that be in evidence?
I think that’s different. A dying declaration is allowed generally speaking. This wasn’t a dying declaration. It was Julie as witness, which deprives him of his right to confront all witnesses against him. He’s presumed innocent at trial and all the benefit of the doubt is supposed to be towards innocence. JMO as a non-lawyer.
 
I watched trial, this time round I think state presented a better case and defense was not as good as in first trial, but I still think I wouldn't have voted guilty,
