WI - Suspect in custody after 8-year old child found dead inside home - 3/10/24

The sheriff's office said a person of interest is in custody and there is no threat to the public.
According to a news release from the sheriff's office, at about 6:15 p.m. deputies responded to the 5500 block of West Miles Road in the town of Fulton for a report of a missing 8-year-old.

During the investigation, officials said the child was found dead inside a residence.

Strange, I can't seem to find any reports of a missing 8 yr old in Rock County.
The way I read the OP article was that the call of a missing 8 yr old came from the house but if there was a missing 8yr old from elsewhere maybe the call came from a neighbor seeing something suspicious. MSM will catch up at some point.

The news conference is planned for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at the Sheriff’s Office, 200 E. Highway 14, Janesville

At about 6:13 p.m., Rock County Sheriff’s Office officers were investigating a missing child at a home on the 5500 block of West Miles Road, according to a news release. Officers found the child dead in the home and have a person of interest in custody.

At least this article says he is 20 years old & a family member - but still no name that i can find.

FULTON TOWNSHIP, Wis. (WMTV) - A 20-year-old is accused of homicide after an 8-year-old family member was found dead over the weekend in a Rock County home, the Rock County Sheriff stated during a news conference.

A group of deputies, officers, a K-9 team and a drone team searched outside the home and in the neighborhood. Sheriff Fell said while searches were conducted, officers detained a 20-year-old family member of the child. Fell explained that circumstances at the time led to the detainment, but did not elaborate.

Authorities obtained a search warrant to the residence and did a more comprehensive search, eventually locating the child’s body.

Sheriff Fell stated that detectives arrested the 20-year-old suspect around 11 a.m. Monday. He is accused of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. When he was detained, he was also facing charges of child neglect causing death, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping. The suspect is undergoing an evaluation, according to Fell.

Sheriff Fell indicated no one else was home at the time of the alleged homicide. There have been no previous known reports to law enforcement about the victim and the suspect.
