Troopers said Kara Jeffrey, 21, of Fairmont was last seen in Huntington visiting a friend on May 1.
Jeffrey is described as an Asian woman, 5’4”, about 140 pounds with an athletic build.
According to state police, Jeffrey doesn’t own a vehicle, but has an iPhone 7 that has been inactive since the beginning of May.

A missing woman from northern West Virginia, last seen in Huntington, is believed to be in "extreme danger," according to West Virginia State Police.

Kara Jeffrey, 21, is from Barboursville but has been living in Fairmont.

Troopers say she was last seen and heard from on May 1 when she visited a friend near state Route 75.
Jeffrey has an iPhone 7 that has been inactive since the day she was last seen in Huntington.

Troopers say Jeffrey does not own a vehicle and believe she is with Jeff Cooper, who they don't believe is from the area. Troopers say she could be in another state at this point.

Jeffrey is described as having an athletic build. She's 5 feet 4 and weighs 140 pounds.

Family says she fell in with the wrong crowd. Was arrested for drugs (while with this JC), etc... since hanging out with these people. Said she has change quite a bit.

they believe Jeffrey is in danger due to her association with known drug traffickers, including a man going by the name of Jeff Cooper, who they believe she is with. Harmon said they also believe Jeff Cooper is a fake name.

Jeffrey was playing soccer at Fairmont State University until her parents say she ran into the wrong crowd.

"We saw a change in Kara's attitude when she had a change in friends, and all of the sudden she just started drifting off and had a different attitude towards things," Jim Jeffrey, Kara's dad, said. "I think she has just been influenced by some people."


Jeffrey was arrested in February on drug charges. That's after police tried to perform a traffic stop on Jeff Cooper, the man she is believed to be with, who fled the scene, nearly striking an officer, according to a criminal complaint.

State police said they are narrowing their search and tips lead them to believe 21-year-old Kara Jeffrey may have recently been in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia or Western Maryland. She was last seen in Lavalette, near Huntington, on May 1.

"As of today, I have no evidence of where my daughter is and if she's okay. And I need to know that she's okay," Terry said.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman who had been missing for nearly two and a half months has been found safely in the Midwest, her family tells WSAZ.


Kara Jeffrey, formerly of Barboursville, was reported missing by her family in mid-May. She had been living in Fairmont, West Virginia.
It was reported at the time that Jeffrey could be in "extreme danger."
Family tells WSAZ that Jeffrey was found in Oklahoma.

Kara Jeffrey, 21, was taken into custody in Oklahoma Thursday.

Jeffrey, who was free on a $35,000 bond following an arrest in February, missed a bond revocation hearing Monday, July 31, in Marion County Circuit Court.
She was charged in February with possession with intent to deliver after police found cocaine in her apartment while executing a search warrant.
Police believed Jeffrey was in “extreme danger” when she was first reported missing. She was believed to be with a man who goes by the alias “Jeff Cooper.” Sgt. Sally Hatten of the West Virginia State Police did not comment on “Cooper’s” alleged involvement in this case — other than to say more information would be released next week.

The woman who police believed to be in ‘extreme’ danger last year pleaded guilty to a felony charge in Marion County Circuit Court.

Kara Jeffrey, 22, of Barboursville, will enter a pre-trial diversion program for two years. If she successfully completes the program, the felony charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor.
