Sheridan County Sheriff Dave Hofmeier said Wednesday that deputies, a Park County canine handler and two cadaver dogs located the body on Monday after somebody reported it to authorities on Friday. Hofmeier would not specify where the remains were found, the gender of the body or any possible cause of death. He says the condition of the body could mean it will "take several weeks to identify the deceased individual." Hofmeier says the Sheriff's Office is looking into missing person cases from surrounding areas. He doesn't plan to release more information until authorities identify the body and notify next of kin.
