Thank you. And welcome to WS.
I really hope this is the case.Lawyer "wouldn't be surprised" if Gabby Petito's fiancé is arrested soon
A criminal defense lawyer has said she expects that the fiancé of missing 22-year-old Gabby Petito will soon be arrested in connection with her disappearance after he was named a person of interest by police.
Agreed. I think it’s just a really odd coincidence, not related at all. I’d be completely shocked if they were related beyond just happening in the same area.Regarding the Moab coincidence with Gabby's disappearance and the murders of the newlywed couple - it is a coincidence no doubt. However, when you add in the fact that the Moab area is a magnet for young/outdoorsy/transient-like people, add in the fact that such people tend to like coffee shops/whole foods groceries/bars etc, add in the fact that Moab is small and has limited number of these establishments .... it gets to be far less of a coincidence IMO.
Or, whether it was an accident or not, she fell with it on her person?I think at this point I would have been more surprised if the cell was in the van. Knowing that they were True Crime buffs - my guess is that he knew enough to not leave it in a place where it would easily be found or tied to him. That phone is probably long gone. Either he ditched it before the drive back or in a place where it would make sense that he could deflect it onto some other type of perpetrator. JMO
I don’t think the double murder is related. IMO he killed her after he snapped during an argument. It’s absolutely heartbreaking what he is doing by staying silent but I think a lot of people would do the same. JMO
One thing I find interesting is the fact that Gabby was on the phone with her "parents" during the August 12th stop, but from all I have read here and in the media, I have not seen where her "parents" brought up this encounter prior to law enforment bringing it to our attention - does anyone else find this curious?

Random question: how old is BL? I keep seeing everywhere that GP is 22 and BL is “older”. How much older? People keep talking about them as if they’re just kids… and that may be true for GP, but if BL is like 30 then I think we can throw the whole “he’s just a dumb kid” argument out the window here…
She did admit the steering wheel swipe. At first she said no, then changed it.<modsnip> Never did she say she gave a tiny swipe to the steering wheel.
The bottom line is they were BOTH physically abusive to each other that day.
<modsnip>
There's every reason to try and figure out the overall dynamic and how they got to that point though. I, personally, don't believe a word that BL said. There were many inconsistencies in his story and his pattern of speech speaks to someone who is manipulative.
IMO as a result of that they've been stuck in a reactive abuse cycle.
I would put his first day of the return drive at Aug 29 or even Aug 30. I don't think this was a sedate drive at the posted speed limit, even though he had the belief that she was hidden well enough that she would not be found in the next 3 days.
If he was jetting it, he could probably could do it in 3 days. So assuming Sept 1 is also a driving day, that would be him driving 8/29, 8/30, 8/31, 9/1
Does anyone know of another case where the other party was completely silent for this long while the significant other is missing?
I hate the shape of his 'ears' when looking straight. This is the most common characteristics of criminals I have noted. *Just my opinion.*
I wonder if one of the reasons Brian and family are stalling is they're hoping all will be left are skeletal remains, thus, very little evidence once she's located.
Like poor little Caylee Anthony. Time covers evidence better than anything else.I wonder if one of the reasons Brian and family are stalling is they're hoping all will be left are skeletal remains, thus, very little evidence once she's located.
