I haven't posted much on the protestors, because as the Laundries had the legal right to withhold vital information from Gabby's family, the protestors have equal rights to speak out. But I really have to point out that the minute the media microphones aren't there, most if not all protestors will leave. So why blame just the protestors?

But I saw what the Laundries did to Gabby's family, which includes her young siblings. So I really couldn't care any less if some of those protestors dig in even after the media leaves. IMO

I agree about the media. I didn’t mean to leave them out. I completely understand where you’re coming from. And yes, great point about both sides exercising rights.

Her only mode? So BL did not take a plane back to florida? I guess she could not fly.

They were supposed to meet friends in yellowstone.
Lets play what if.
So what if they get into a huge argument. He realizes that if the cops show up both of them could go to jail, and being the male, only he will be charged. Just look at the comments in the this forum, he was the aggressor even though she hit him. He says he can not do this any more and she breaks up with him.

She declares that she is going on with friends that are coming from yellowstone to meet her. She then tells him to take the van and the card to get it back to florida. Remember she does not like to drive it.

She goes out to camp, waiting for morning to meet friends. And the same person that killed the couple in utah kills her. The friends shows up and she does not show up. Or she lied about the friends coming.

He uses the credit card to get the van home, thinking she is now having a affair with the new friends and is really upset. He ignores the phone calls, he ignores parents because he thinks she is sleeping with another person.

On sept 11 the parents file a missing person, and he realizes that he was the last person to see her alive. That the friends was either a lie or the killer. He does not know who they are because it was gabbie that talk to them online. The police know of this person from the records, which is why brian was not charge with her murder.

Brian realizes the only person he loves is missing and probably dead. He then wanders into a forest and kills himself.

With this what if, all the marks are checked.

Why was she found away from the camp site in a tent, because she was waiting for friends to show up to pick her up.
Why did he return alone with her van and her cards. She wanted the van to be safe, she let him use the cards to get her van back to florida. Remember she did not like to drive it, so it was either leave it in wyoming or have her parents come get it.
Why did he not contact her parents, she was out with friends that he thought she was having an affair with.
Why did she leave him, because he was done with this van life and she found another ride to finish her trip.
Why did he act normal after he got back, because he did not know she was dead.
Why did he run and kill himself, because he knew he screwed. Protestors outside the house day and night. People proclaiming him the monster. He finds that what he thought was true was not. She was missing and possibly dead.

Once again, if he was going to kill himself over her death, he would have done it in Wyoming. If he was going to run, he would have run in wyoming. In no world do you go home knowing that you killed her.

All wild speculation and my theory.

Intriguing read, but BL was possessive. That is how the relationship operated. If he knew that GP was missing, after she was with other people, BL would have been all over them! MOO

BBM: Agreed...very wild, IMO.

Or when LE showed up on the 11th he knew the clock was ticking and he most likely would not get away with killing Gabby and then decided to take his life. MOO

I knew they were going to say this. Brian was upset when he left, although the parents didn't try to stop him, apparently. Completely predictable. But why did they not make this public before? It might have helped his case if people thought he felt remorse over Gabby's death, but Nahhh, the lawyer couldn't mention that. JMOO
Yes because IMO they didn't want people to know that Brian knew Gabby was dead and that is why he left. The parents wanted people to think that he went for a stroll and got lost or something so was "missing" as they were trying to protect him. I think at that stage they + SB still had some hope that they might find him alive and get his name cleared (JMO).

Imagining the scenario: I think the parents finaly confronted him about Gabby after accepting he must have done something. Brian gets visibly upset and crying/angry and parents are trying to calm him down. But he's intent on leaving and grabs the keys. CL is like "where are you going?" and BL: "to the reserve"...?? (I guess it makes sense if he would go there to walk/calm down). When he didn't return the parents got worried and may feel guilty for having confronted him since it made him run. All JMO but I don't think he confessed to his parents and he actually just couldn't face telling them the truth.

I’m trying to put myself in the laundries shoes with the information we have now.
  • BL returns with van and no gabby.
  • Go on family camping trip.
  • Bike ride.
  • New phone.
  • Gabbys family try to contact them as they’re concerned.
  • Missing person report filed.
  • Police turn up to attempt to locate gabby, hand police lawyers card.
  • Van taken away.
  • BL is upset and ‘grieving’ and goes for a hike never to return.

Looking at it like this I think the L’s started to question him between GP’s family trying to contact them and the missing persons report. I think SB slipped up with the grieving comment as he has said we have things to discuss with LE when the time comes, I think they knew at that point. If BL is an abuser like I think he is they are great at spinning stories to explain away ODD/BAD behaviour, like he did in the Moab video, I can see him having an explanation for everything until the police turned up. I am not saying I condone keeping it to themselves but I do believe they didn’t know straight away, purely because I do believe he was an abuser and he could have spun them whatever sob story came to mind but when the police turned up they started to question his story, this freaked him out he got upset and left, by that point he’d lost control of the situation and that is one things abusers hate, lack of control. MOO

Sometimes, it is the better the devil you know. I believe that SB has given the L's good legal advice. I agree though, that media skills are not SB's greatest strength. There is specialised media training one needs to undertake to deal with the media effectively.

Re instructing different lawyers to deal with this. Perhaps the L's finances do not/would not stretch to a crim defence attorney with media training. Legal rep in criminal cases does not come cheap, nor is it free (unlike the UK).

What was the good legal advice?

"Don't talk to LE,"ever,"" which was his description of his advice in the NBC interview yesterday, is NOT "good legal advice." It is a starting point, one that assumes there will be an attorney present in the overall sense who will run interference (to put it minimally and crudely), but one who will use appropriate tact and skill, as the situation unfolds, to assess the appropriate approach at any given point in time.

For a few reasons, I'm comfortable reading SB'S words and between his lines a bit. But the bottom line is that he has expressed an approach to the situation that while perhaps adequate in certain cases/milieus, here likely caused, at minimum, some sore toes and irritations that more likely harmed than helped the legal outlook for his clients, to say nothing of the life/death outcome.

As he himself said, anyone who's been to law school would advise their client not to talk to LE. However, after Day 1 of law school, it turns out there is often more to it than that.

Even putting aside the media relations (wholly secondary, imo), any attorney involved as an attorney in any complex legal situation - criminal, corporate, whatever - has to be able to see the situation - including their/clients' own relative power-level, including facts, strength, and skill - clearly. That does not mean applying a single rigid template and trying to shove the situation into it.

Of course. That’s very reasonable. I just think they would have had to have talked to SB beforehand. Why would they tell LE to contact SB without doing that. LE could have contacted SB before they got a chance to reach him & that’s not good. JMO.
Don't forget, it was the weekend. The L's may not have had immediate access to their attorney. Lawyers are not (generally) a 24/7 service.

Agree that I don’t think they will ever go public. I don’t think they will ever speak with Gabby's family, hope I am wrong though.
Speaking to Gabby's family could totally be me wishful thinking, because it's what I would do if I were in their extraordinary circumstance. I guess I don't see how they could not have all the sympathy in the world for Gabby's family.

Now that Brian is gone, there is no reason not to speak to them of what (if anything) they know.

I can't agree with you about the ink not being affected by water. It depends on what type of ink was used. The gel ink pens I use will completely wash off of paper if the paper gets wet. If the ink does not get wet, it is fine. I have learned the hard way not to address envelopes with ink from a gel pen. Otherwise the address will wash off if it gets caught in the rain.

Yes I did say that some ink is water soluble, like some gel pens...but the majority is not.

I also am pretty sure that the investigators would have at least opened the notebook partially to try and ID it as Brian's at some point and if there was nothing in it they wouldn't bother drying it out. Because they Re drying it out that means it has to be opened and pages fanned open seperated to allow air to dry them out individually. Wet paper is very fragile so it woukd need to remain bound until dry. It has to be fanned out ir it sticks together through cohesive forces and mold forms from prolonged wetness

I sincerely hope they reach out to Gabby's family. I agree that they will not go public. They lost a child, public perception doesn't matter and if they've known it in their hearts all along, public perception never did matter.

Ita.
Yes, they should have done this as soon as Brian returned home.
But it's not too late and even though it won't change anything, it would be the courteous action to take.
What decent and caring people do.

The Laundrie's need to share any and all phone call transcripts and texts from Brian after Gabby's death and even before -- with Gabby's family.
They also need to give Brian's notebook to the Petito's/Schmidt's so they know what Gabby's last days were like.
And if he confessed, Gabby's loved ones deserve to know the truth.

It's time for the Laundrie's to do the right thing and help to heal the horrific loss Gabby's family has suffered !
Imo.

And possibly....with the advice from a family friend/attorney..he was given the Southwest Airline-like Statement: " You are now free to move about the country"

I think that SB and many others (including some posters here) here are churning up the media frenzy. I think SB and his clients are going to sell their story to the highest bidder and that keeping the protests going (by calling attention to them constantly) and keeping the public angry (by changing facts constantly) are all in hopes of upping the bidding war of publishers and TV shows that is to come. sickening.
I'm starting to feel the same about SB... he's literally teasing the story, stuff like, "I can't comment on that...now." Why is he telling is BL was upset when he went to the reserve, doesn't that violate attorney client privilege? I find his behaviour repulsive. JMO

PLEASE HELP ME SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT TODAY'S SHOW. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

CHECK OUT HIS NEW PODCAST THAT DROPPED TODAY CALLED "BODY BAGS" https://tinyurl.com/twy5se The TV crew will be filming what I do throughout my day. I advised them to bring a book because the biggest action they will see is when I scold my dog for eating the cat food or if they are lucky I will do one of my magnificent face plants after tripping over my own shoelaces. It is a wild time in my house I'll tell ya. See you all at 5 PM Eastern today.

I wish I could LOVE this!!

At no point in time was he going to get away with it. Any conscious person know that.
Possibly hoping they would never find her body, hoping it would be too decomposed if/when found to detemine COD. It was only found as soon as it was because of the Bethume dash cam video. If not for that video, she may have never been located till possibly spring after the winter thaw. MOO

Being made a spectacle of??!

If he'd turned himself in, he'd still be alive.
I'm not convinced he would still be alive if he had turned himself in. He most likely would bail out and have the same outcome if he didn't want to live with the guilt (if he is guilty) or pain of knowing she's dead (in the event that he's innocent or if he did not kill her on purpose)
