'The police are also still investigating the death of Mirjam Verboort from Elsloo. That was Angelique's best friend. Mirjam disappeared in 1996, six years after Angelique. Verboort's remains were found in 1998 along the Juliana Canal in Stein. In this case, too, the police assume a crime and take into account that the girlfriends are victims of the same perpetrator.''

'When Hendrix went missing, the police launched an investigation. Although this is primarily aimed at Hendrix, the disappearance of a friend of hers was also included. Mirjam Verboort disappeared in June 1996 and in January 1998 her remains were found in a nature reserve behind the church in Stein. The police report that it has never been clear whether these cases are related.'
