Cecil Mabb sentenced over 2021 campground abduction of 5yo girl in Tasmania

A Tasmanian man has been sentenced to six years in prison for abducting a five-year-old girl from a campground in the state's north-west earlier this year.

• Doctors found the girl had injuries consistent with strangulation, as well as blunt force trauma to her head following the abduction
• Mabb also pleaded guilty to assaulting one of the wildlife rangers who found him during the search for the girl
• Mabb will be eligible for parole after serving four years of his sentence, backdated to November 25

This man will be out in 4 yrs! He nearly strangled this little girl to death! Between 1995 and 2003, he sexually assaulted multiple children and spent time in jail, and here we are again, he commits another crime against a child!
After getting out of jail for the acts committed against the children years ago, he marries, has children, relationship breaks down and then, he was on the hunt again!
This poor girl and his other victims serve a life sentence, and he gets a holiday!

Prosecutor Yolanda Prence told the Burnie Supreme Court the girl's family was setting up tents at the site when the girl went on a bike ride with her four-year-old male friend.
Ms Prence said Mabb had parked his ute in isolated bushland near the campground before he grabbed the girl by her legs, threw her over his shoulder and then threw her in his car as she screamed.
A fellow camper found the girl on the beach alone, about one kilometre from the family's campsite, the court heard.
The man who found the child told police she seemed to be dazed and in shock, unaware that people were calling her name.
Ms Prence told the court the impact extends to her four-year-old friend who witnessed the abduction, with his family detailing in a statement he can no longer go to the bathroom alone, won't play out the front of his family's house and won't wait for the bus "because of the bad man".

He's had a horrible childhood and yet, he inflicts the same onto countless other children! He probably does feel sorry afterwards, but it's never going to stop him!
