Two adoptive parents in California were charged with the murder, torture and child abuse of a 10-year-old boy in their care on Thursday, Nov. 21, authorities said.

Alejandra Marin, 51, and Juan Sanchez Moreno, 59, were arrested and charged with murder, torture and child abuse after the young boy died at a local hospital on Thursday, Nov. 21, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

When I search Riverside Hall of Justice on either the case number or the date, I get no results either way. It appears the docket is only updated online through 11/25.

*Initial Appearance Hearing for both (@ 8am PT) - CA - Adopted boy (10) was initially found in “medical distress” by deputies at a residence in Moreno Valley earlier on Nov. 12, 2024 & died at the local hospital. - *Alejandra Marin (51) was arrested & charged (11/22/24) with felony murder, felony torture & felony willful harming a child. No bond. Riverside County

Alejandra Marin, 51 & Juan Sanchez Moreno, 59, were arrested and charged with murder, torture and child abuse after the young boy died at a local hospital on Thursday, Nov. 21, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. The child, whose identity is not being released, was initially found in “medical distress” by deputies at a residence in Moreno Valley earlier in the day. An initial investigation into the boy’s death “revealed signs of possible neglect & abuse.” Following this discovery, the Riverside Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit was called in to join the investigation, the release said. Marin was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center with no bail set. The investigation remains ongoing.
11/22/24 Update: Marin & Sanchez are set to appear in court on Tuesday, 11/26/24 @ 8am.
