CAMERON PARK, Calif. —
A Cal Fire captain has been arrested after a woman and a child died in a shooting in Cameron Park, the El Dorado County Sheriff said Friday.
Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 3000 block of Oakwood Road on Thursday around 9 p.m. The home belongs to the suspect, Darin McFarlin.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the juvenile died at the hospital, the sheriff’s office said. Another juvenile in the home was found safe.
The Buckeye Union School District on Friday said the child victim was a 2nd grade student at Blue Oak Elementary, and the woman killed was the child's mother.
"The suspect and the adult victim were in a domestic relationship. Now, what kind of how that defines out, as far as married or dating, I don't know at this time," Sgt. Kyle Parker said.
