Hi there,

I've noticed there doesn't seem to be a thread for this Doe but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Case Info
NamUs #UP54000
ME/C Case Number91-23844
Agency Case Number: 91-23844
Case Owner: El Dorado County Sheriffs Office: (530) 621-5655

Information on Doe
The decedent was found skeletonized at a campsite about a 24 minute drive off highway 50, closer to Pollock Pines. It's unknown if the clothing nearby was actually his.
  • Date Found: October 28, 1991
  • Estimated Year of Death: 1981-1989
  • Race: White
  • Age: 20-50
  • Height: 5'9" to 6'1"
  • Weight: Cannot Estimate
  • Hair: Unknown
  • Eye Color: Unknown
  • Clothing/Accessories: Green army jacket, one "Sunbacker" shoe, khaki shirt, blue jeans size 33x36, white t shirt with illegible red writing on it, silver lighter, black comb, shotgun shells
  • Other physical features: On the zygomatic bone there was a healed fracture that could have left a scar under the right eye of the decedent while he was living.
Sunbacker shoes were popular in the 1970's and early 1980's, sold by JC Penny. From what I can find they stopped production around 1986-1987.

No rule outs have been listed on Namus.

Possible Identity:

Personally I think that this doe could be Roger C Levell (Namus #MP17917) who went missing from South Lake Tahoe sometime around the 1970's. The exact date of his disappearance is unknown, but some agencies list it as December 1, 1971 while others list it as January 12, 1978. The vital statistics we know about him (height, age, race, scars) matches up fairly well. He had a scars on the right side of his face near his eye and eyebrow, which would match the fracture Doe had. He also was involved in drug use and may have been on the run from the law, which could explain the lighter and why he was found at a campsite.

Other options are:
Richard Edward Strehle - NamUs #MP20178- (DLC 1973, missing from South Lake Tahoe) - he matches pretty well but is on the smaller side of doe's height.
Charles Lorainne Hollingsworth - NamUs #MP4722 (DLC 1970, missing from South Lake Tahoe) - also matches pretty well but on the flip side is on the taller side for doe's height (1" off estimate).

Thanks for reading.

I agree that Roger C Levell is the most likely match.
