Santa Ana PD Issues Critical Missing Alert For 29-Year-Old Woman

Sulman Lleana Carrillo was last seen on security video
from her neighbor’s home Monday morning. (Security video)

The Santa Ana Police Department put out a critical missing person alert Tuesday night for 29-year-old Sulman Lleana Carrillo.
  • Sulman was last seen wearing a black jacket, white long-sleeve shirt, black leggings and athletic style shoes.
  • She is a 5'3" Hispanic female with brown hair and green eyes.
  • Family put up missing posters Tuesday night in the area where she was last seen.
  • Sulman is a wife and mother of two children, ages 5 and 2.
  • She was reported missing by her family and loved ones.
  • Sulman was last seen on security tape from a neighbor’s camera Mon about 8 a.m. walking westbound along a sidewalk in the 1300 block of West Chestnut St headed to her daughter’s school. Her husband said she planned to walk the 1.5 miles for exercise.
  • He retraced what he thought were her steps and found her purse and wallet left behind, but believed she took her cell phone with her.
  • “I went through our account and phone bill,” he said. “There was no call sent, no texts sent that day. Anytime myself or my mom would try to reach out, it went straight to voicemail.”
  • He then called Verizon and they pinged her phone to a street 1.5 miles away, in the opposite direction, 10 minutes after the video was taken.
  • Anyone with information is asked to call Detective A. Garcia at 714-245-8408

So scared this one won't end well.

The location on the surveillance photo apears to be 1223 W Chestnut Ave. It's near the end of a cul-de-sac, which has a pedestrian exit. I wonder if she was picked up by someone after that exit. I hope the police can trace the travel route of her phone to the last known location. The fact that she didn't use her phone could indicate that something happened quickly.

Unfortunately you are probably right.

Who knows, but my impression is that the husband is not involved. Hopefully, he has a solid alibi and can be quickly ruled-out as a suspect, so LE can concentrate elsewhere.

The obvious scenario would be someone(s) driving up to her, grabbing her, and driving away.

The phone ping is interesting. One ping? Is that normal? Does that mean that the phone was turned off after the ping? Or did the phone remain in that area for a period of time?

With the precise timeframe, LE might get lucky with other camera footage. Especially knowing the direction she initially went.

I hope she is found safe.

MOO

If I understood the article correctly, her purse and wallet were left at home. She only took her cellphone with her and it hasn't been found.

ETA: Given the timing and the distance, a car must have been involved. If it happened on that street, the car would have been spotted on the surveillance camera.

I think you're right. I initially thought that her husband found her purse on the sidewalk, or something.

More info if you follow the commenter at: Santa Ana Police Department

ETA: Also, search for sulma missing

It looks like she was last seen very close to her home and not near her daughter's school.

that’s a very busy area. Bristol and 1st. Someone had to have seen her or something. Cameras as well...

Where are you getting the info about being seen close to her home as opposed to the school? All I could gather was she was seen on camera 5 minutes before she was supposed to be at the school and it was a mile and half walk from her home to the school. Really sad there's not more info out there or coverage.

BBM. I looked up her home address and the address on the surveillance photo and they are rather close together. Additionally it's stated in the article that she was caught on the neighbor's camera. You can figure out the location of the school from sources that we can't link as well as the location of her last ping. She wasn't 5 minutes away from her daughter's school on the surveillance photo. That would have been several blocks away from home.

If the area is so bad, I wonder why she was choosing to walk "for exercise"

That's wonderful! Unfortunately most of the cases I've followed haven't ended up like this. Just curious : what are the chances we'll hear what went down?

Santa Ana and Valencia or not close. There is a 71 mile difference. It takes 1 hour, 10 minutes by car and she left on foot.

How odd that she couldn’t tell police how she got there. Something is rotten in Denmark. IMO
