In 10 more days it will be 9 years since this happened.

I wonder if police have gleaned any new information…..

I assumed they kept their recycling down there until they were ready to take it out, but it ended up scattered amidst the fall. jmo.

So hypothetically let's say another object other than piggy bank was used for those back of the head wounds... It didn't happen in the kitchen, nor the stairs - the attack would have to be in the basement where there seemed to be spatter on the wall by base of the stairs(?) but no DNA!

So hear me out. If someone was in her face in the kitchen and AA scurried down the stairs, could there have been a struggle on those stairs? AA tries to go back UP the stairs, culprit does a forehead/head smash on the piggy bank to daze her from behind AA while AA is trying to get UP stairs, pushes AA down stairs where she lands at base of stairs.

Is is possible an attacker was actually on the bottom couple stairs and maybe used an object on AA while she was incapacitated lying at base of stairs? Some hits to the head to stop the struggle? So attacker still wasn't officially in the basement but on the carpeted stairs. Hence no DNA in basement since attacker didn't need to go there. IIRC it looked like spatter by base of stairs but I'm foggy.
Yes! I have thought all along that she didn't fall down the stairs. Instead she was coming back up the stairs. Possibly trying to get away from someone. They grab her from behind and jerk her down. Then smash her face into the piggy bank and the railing. The right orbital bone was broken. That would account for the broken bone if she was smashed with force into the piggy bank from that angle. The attacker then grabs her by her pants and jerks her backwards back down the stairs. This accounts for her pants being down and slippers off.

I try to understand your scenario. :) Still not successful at this. My problem. - How does the perp get behind AA on the stairs? She returns and is going up the stairs and he is behind her, but how did he get there, when he before was above her on the landing and she was running down the stairs?
This makes perfect sense to me. Especially since her injuries are in the right side of her face and the right orbital bone was cracked or broken. That would account for the damage on the right side of her face.

I totally agree! Good angle on the pants too, that makes total sense (to me) A struggle happened I think mid-stairs that went up and down a bit.

For sure, going up the stairs. Head grabbed/smashed from behind to slow her down.

The question is…..by WHO???
I remember her husband as saying, A didn't like to go into the basement. WHY did he mention it? When my wife has an accident ("accident") at home and it seems, she has fallen down from above, I wouldn't have in mind, whether she ever liked the basement or not. Nobody selects the place in advance, where s/he would like to struggle and fall down, ending up dead.

Maybe, he knew or guessed, A was going upstairs (when attacked) and had been in the basement before. THEN his statement makes sense. MOO

A few things I wonder about this case... I'm not sure if they ever said about
1. if the piggy bank was ever tested for DNA or fingerprints
2. Who actually knew they were both supposed to be away for the weekend and more importantly who knew that the husband just went and she stayed home
3. All I saw was the crime scenes photos from the show.. Was there any exits in the basement? Doors windows or any other way in or out?

The thing that immediately stood out to me though was that there was no railing on those steps! It didn't even look safe at all...could very well be a tragic accident but as I stated in my previous post I think those questions would need to be answered before I lean one way or the other..

AA may have fallen perhaps (as I meanwhile experienced a stupid fall myself), but where and how she ended up, doesn't fit quite well. IMO
