''When a man was found dead Thursday from a suspected gunshot wound in a public washroom at the Scarborough Town Centre, cops could not immediately say if he had been murdered.

The victim appeared to have been killed by “potentially a single shot” shortly before 2 p.m. and a firearm was located in the restroom, but nobody in the busy mall near McCowan Rd. and Hwy. 401 had heard a gun go off.''

'An avid student, Daniel was enrolled in the automotive engineering program at Ontario Tech University when he was killed, Basil told the Star. Outside of his studies, he held a part-time job at Costco.'

“He had nothing to do with any gangs or street violence,” Basil said, adding that Daniel had a rotating group of friends who were a common presence in the family’s home.''

“He had nice things, he liked collecting shoes,” he said, “so maybe tried to take something from him or take his money.”
