Frances Brown, Missing from British Columbia since 2017.
A blog about the many missing, murdered, and unidentified Native/Indigenous/Aboriginal women of the United States and Canada. Say Their Names!
Frances was 53 years old when she left her home near Smithers, British Columbia to go mushroom picking in heavy forest on Kitseguecla Road on October 14th, 2017. Her companion called the police around 9:30 pm that day when Frances did not return to the car. There was light to moderate rain on the day she disappeared but Frances had some deep woods experience in her background and was appropriately dressed. Family and officials put in weeks searching the woods for Frances but aside from signs of a recent campfire in the area, nothing was found.
Frances's nephew, Matthew Jefferson, completed a cross-country walk to bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in 2018. Some have theorizes Frances suffered a heart attack in the woods and was simply never found, but family says she had no health problems. Frances remains missing.
