PINELLAS COUNTY - Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Clearwater man for Sexual Battery.

Detectives began their investigation on August 23, 2024, after a male reported a sexual battery that occurred when he was 8 years old. The incident occurred in unincorporated St. Petersburg. Detectives learned the suspect, 62-year-old Bobby McAffee, pinned the victim down on the ground, held both of his arms above his head, and sexually battered him.

On May 30, 2025, detectives interviewed McAffee, who admitted to having sexual contact with the victim. McAffee also admitted to testing positive for HIV, and the victim recently found out he is HIV positive. McAffee was charged with one count of Sexual Battery of a Child Less Than 12 Years Old and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
