''The victim told detectives that she and Gibbon began arguing while in the pool of their vacation rental home.''

''The victim’s nine-year-old daughter jumped in the pool in an attempt to stop her grandfather from drowning her mother. Still, Gibbon only stopped once two witnesses staying at the vacation rental next door heard the commotion and called the sheriff’s office, authorities alleged.''

Jasmine Wyld (left), 33, had been in a relationship with her father in law Mark Gibbon (right), 62, when he allegedly tried to murder her on holiday by drowning her in a hotel swimming pool
''A British businessman accused of trying to drown his daughter-in-law in a swimming pool in Florida was in romantic relationship with her, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Mark Gibbon, 62, from Buckinghamshire, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly holding Jasmine Wyld's head under water during a row over his will.

His nine-year-old granddaughter was allegedly forced to fight him off to stop him drowning her mother in a pool on their American holiday at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, near DisneyWorld.''

''Now we can reveal that Gibbon and Ms Wyld have been in a relationship for the last two years after both of their relationships broke down.''

''Meanwhile, Ms Wyld separated from Gibbon's son Alex, with whom she shares two young children, in 2021.
A family source told us that Alex and his father no longer speak - and last year Alex was jailed for trying to drive a car at his estranged father.''

''Mr Gibbon has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and battery. He is next due in court on September 9.''

A bit peculiar to leave your husband for his father.

Seems the argument was because he was leaving everything to his grandchildren, not to her.

According to neighbours he adored his grandkids.

He had numerous businesses, some were losing money but overall he was well off.

Hope he likes Florida, he’s going to be delayed getting back to Britain.

'Mark Gibbon, 62, was with his family at the Solterra Resort in Davenport, Florida when he reportedly got into an argument over the "stipulations of his will".

'Gibbon is a lighting technician who runs his own company, MRG Lighting, and has worked on music videos for the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Paloma Faith.'

Aug 9 2025 lengthy article.
'Relations had already been strained, to say the least, when patriarch Mark Gibbon, 62, who heads a successful lighting company in the UK (one which previously supplied services for the televised Queen's speech on Christmas Day) arrived late last month with his former daughter-in-law Jasmine Wyld, 33, and her two children (his grandchildren).

Happily families? Well, no.
The dream holiday ended somewhat abruptly last Sunday afternoon when Gibbon was arrested after allegedly trying to drown Jasmine in the villa's pool.
Police were called when fellow holidaymakers reported that a man was seen repeatedly holding a woman's head under the water.'

'After a blazing row, Gibbon had tried to stop his son driving off by getting in front of the car. Instead, Alex ran him over. He was released from prison six months ago.

Our source revealed that not only did the family unit collapse after Alex found his ex-wife in his father's bed, but that the rift is ongoing. '

He took a foreign vacation do Disneyworld and decided to go local and act like Florida Man.

What a complicated family.

Thankful nobody was, in fact, drowned.

"She has now testified to a court in Bartow, Florida,
that she has always
'felt safe' around Gibbon
and that she 'is not afraid of him'.

'I can only sing his praises for what a fantastic grandfather he is'.

Ms Wyld also spoke in favour of a motion submitted by Gibbon's lawyer
calling for his release from custody,
subject to a 'no-violence' order by the court.

However,
Judge Jalal Harb denied the request
and said that Ms Wyld's testimony contradicts the sworn statement
she gave on the day of the alleged drowning."

Plot was thick enough, but got thicker.
