He has a large anchor tatoos. Did he have a boat at the marina? Could he charter a boat there? That could explain maybe why his dog was found swimming???

This seems farfetched given that he was last seen walking the dog.

Here's the best picture I can get of the water access around Julington Creek Marina - it's easy to access/enter the water, and has some nice sandy bits to walk a dog. To the right of this picture there are also 3 boat docks that I believe you can get to by walking around the building (i.e. without getting buzzed in). Sadly I think we all know how this might turn out :( He's a grown man from Florida though, I'm betting he can swim, if he fell in/fell off a dock why couldn't he right himself? Was no one at the docks or watching the docks on a Wednesday afternoon? Are FL gators so aggressive that they would drag someone in from the shore, and if so, why leave the dog? This part of the water is also very busy with many boat launches and a 4-lane bridge passing overhead- would gators avoid busy waters or would it attract them?

Calling that body of water a "Creek" is a bit misleading. See google map. Google Maps It's a large body of water. No idea what happened to this poor man, but I'm glad he was found to be brought home. My thoughts and prayers going to his family and loved ones.

Sad update from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, they say Matthew Sharpe, who was reported missing Wednesday night, has been found dead.

Police say around midnight Thursday morning, they located Sharpe in the waters of Julington Creek.

JSO says there is no indication of foul play and appears to be a “tragic accident.”

However, both JSO and the Medical Examiner’s Office will continue to investigate Sharpe’s death to ensure foul play was not involved.

I wonder if maybe he or the dog fell into the water. Got tangled up in the leash or something. I mean the possibilities are endless and sadly we will likely never know. I would not assume he could swim if it was sudden and with his dog he may have panicked because of gators. I mean if he somehow got caught up on something it could pull you right on down or hit his head in a fall. Sadly many people live or go by water their whole lives but never learn to swim or are just afraid of being in it.
