Neha Gupta, 36, was on vacation in El Portal in Miami with her daughter, Aria Talathi, when she called 911 at around 3:30 a.m. on June 27 about a drowning in the pool at their short-term rental, according to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office.

She had just been fired from a job, and was in the midst of a custody dispute. She was also awaiting a psychological evaluation.

Here are more details, from a Miami, FL area TV station. (There's also a Miami, OK.)

Here's the public portion of their divorce proceedings. What a doozy.

Wow. More than $200K to the lawyers and garnishment, freezing of accounts....from Sept 2022 through this past week.
"Proceeding" is correct terminology, certainly, but is somewhat optimistic considering the duration.

Precious sweet baby. 💔. Her dad tried to protect her.

It looks like the psych eval was 1st requested way back in May of 2023 and it appears she never completed it! Something was going on in April and May for the courts to try to get her to comply with the order again, and likely whatever it was affected her job, IMO>

What's your thoughts on this? Did she have a decline in mental health over the years due to the divorce? Undiagnosed mental illness? Premediated?

She has co-authored several research reports.

Why why ? This could of been avoided. We could have an alive little girl and the mother getting the help she needed.

A pediatrician who kills her own child!!

a pediatrician who doesn't realize that they would figure out the child didn't drown ...

How did she allegedly kill her daughter? Was it just the of them in Florida?

I wonder if she had a mental breakdown, and that was a major factor in the demise of the marriage.

It is VERY uncommon for divorces to go to trial (AND FOR A WEEK!) and they had a guardian ad litem from the outset, which meant it was high-conflict from the beginning.

I'm going to add that a doctor has to do something really, really horrible to get fired/lose their privileges! I also saw that her ex-husband's profile has been taken down from the hospital system where he's employed.

Wow! That is insane. Geez. I am guessing she did not want a divorce, and made sure to make it as miserable and drawn out as possible for the petitioner.

And I see "emergency custody" requests, shot down. Wow.

As of July 6th, her medical license is still active.

Her medical license will not matter at the present time, unless she can practice medicine from jail.
She has been in custody since July 1, 2025 when she was arrested by US Marshalls in OK.

Something is very wrong with this woman, as a doctor she did not render aid. First responders found the little girl, Aria, the deep end of the pool.
Her excuse- she couldn’t swim. Hmm, so she took her 4 yr old on vacation to a home with a pool when she herself could not swim?

And- autopsy says the little girl had no water in the lungs- asphyxiation due to smothering.
It sounds like this woman suffers from the same evil as Luciano Frattolin

Children do not get to choose their parents
IMO

At least where I am, if a state-licensed professional of any kind is even suspected of a felony, their license is at least suspended until the investigation is over.

Thanks for bumping this.
