3481DMFRA - Robert Bell
Long-term missing: Robbie went to the beach - and never came back - DER SPIEGEL

I’ve been looking out of curiosity for the Doe Network in Europe and stumbled upon this man, Robert Bell, who has been missing since June 26, 1998. According to the physical description, Robert was a black, mixed man, of German nationality, who was in France, Nice (Rochambeau hotel), for vacations with some friends. The last day he was seen, he was wearing shorts, a t-shirt and flip-flops, with his EC-card (which I understand, is a credit card in Germany), heading towards the beach.

The day before his disappearance, he had his mother, Rosemarie Bell, on the phone, who said he sounded quite depressed (his friend told the same thing and he had just broken up with his girlfriend). He said on the phone, according to his mother again : “In ten years I'll have so much money you'll never have to work again.”.

He’s been missing for 27 years, he would be 58 years old; his mother, who’s now (if alive) 77 years old, told the newspaper that she tried everything, from printed posters, fortune teller to french private investigator, but none of these were successful.

I haven’t found this case here nor on other platforms like reddits. It seems as if most of the cases here are US cases, but like I said, I’m a bit curious about this. I also feel some kind of way, hearing his mom talking about him; he seems like a good, helpful, community, kind-hearted man. He worked with difficult children and wanted to be an educator. He reminds me of someone that I’ve met, who seems just like him, involved in his community, loving, endearing man, etc…

And it’s also a very weird case, as he was last seen on the beach, and such disappearance would make you believe that he probably drowned but as the news said, corpse would always be washed up on the coast and for a man that was very athletic and had been a lifeguard, it’s quite unbelievable that this what happened.

So yeah, I just hope to spark a bit of attention on this, even just out of curiosity.
Peace, have a good day.
Riri.
