Qaadir and Naazir Lewis, both 19, were found shot to death Saturday morning by a hiker at the summit of Bell Mountain, near the North Carolina border.

“How did they end up out in the mountains? They don’t hike out there, they’ve never been out there,” Brawner said. “They don’t know anything about Hiawassee, Georgia. They never even heard of Bell Mountain, so how did they end up right there?”

The GBI stated that their preliminary findings suggest a murder-suicide, but the family strongly disputes that conclusion.

“We knew right away that wasn’t true,” Brawner said.

I wonder to whom the gun used in the killings was registered. At their age, they're too young to purchase a handgun, so how did they get the weapon (if they did at all)?

That means they were shot before Friday 7 am, check their phone calls or social media before Friday to see if someone invited them to go there for hiking, they'd probably have denied if it was near the time of their flight, it seems they went there a long time ago before the flight. Do their friends or relatives live there? Because they shouldn't have gone if someone unknown would've called them possibly.

I didn't hear about a gun being found near the bodies. That wouldn't necessarily mean suicide but would make it look so by a murderer who thought he was being clever. Sometimes, teens hide their problems/misery from family but twins that close would confide in each other. If one was so unhappy, he couldn't go on living, the other twin would most likely opt to follow suit. I have twin grandchildren in their twenties who are so close, I don't think one could go on without the other. Murder or suicide, I hope LE solve this quickly.

Wonder if the guys were planning on taking a taxi to the airport, or were their friends supposed drove them?

Still why'd they go to a place which has no relevance to the airport, they could've taken taxi from somewhere near too. Why go that far🤔, if it's about their friends then that could be a point as someone known could've possibly done it. As they don't have a reason to go that far so someone must've given them a reason to do so...

Unbelievable. If this is truly a murder suicide I'll be stunned. Bell Mountain is a definite remote spot but full of signs of activity....lots of graffiti up there.

Good looking guys!

If it were to be a murder suicide then the gun should've been found near the dead body though, and as someone said, if they're twins then one wouldn't let another fall so much into despair that they eventually had to commit suicide, doesn't seem like a murder suicide case

On March 6, 2025 the brothers were supposed to catch a flight to Boston, (presumably from where they lived) but instead were located 90 miles from home in Bell Mountain. Found by a hiker at 7 am, March 7, 2025. (According to what the family are saying.)

MOO: when GBI states in a press release that it’s preliminarily a murder-suicide, I am rationally convinced that they found the weapon. I imagine this is immensely painful for all involved.

We never know how deep despair can be.

I hope there is a thorough investigation into this...such a sad case. Two young lives lost.

strange circumstances but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a suicide pact - we've seen it before with twins

Shouldn't the gun be found there then?🤔

They must have found the gun near the bodies to suspect murder suicide?

I agree that it could be a suicide pact.

I think definitely more likely to be a suicide pact than a murder suicide. Twins come into the world together, and many would rather leave this world together, than live without their twin.

They both look proud and happy about their graduations. IMO, I don't think this was any type of suicide pact. JMO.
They were headed to Boston -- I would think they were exited about the trip. SMH.

Their new lives, STS, have just started. How many of us were proud of ourselves due to our first big step in growing up and feeling more adult? Who knows what good things these young men might have done to make things better in their town and possibly for the world?
Their parents, probably grandparents, cousins, and friends, etc., were certainly proud and happy for that day for those young men. The world was out there for them.
It takes my breath away.
Hoping that LE and whoever else can solve this sad, sad event.

Yes. And if I am a compassionate and well-trained member of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, I don’t need to say that in the press release, because all else I’m saying makes that rationally clear. No law enforcement body would put forward probable murder-suicide if they didn’t have the weapon, unless it had been many years since and maybe wildlife absconded with it or whatever. This is a law enforcement agency expressing admirable constraint, and a family in massive pain. I admire the softness of the steps being shown here.
