Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory Assistance Needed Locating Missing New Orleans Juvenile

Published: 08-15-2025 | Category: Statewide

Orleans Parish – The Louisiana State Police has issued a Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory on behalf of the New Orleans Police Department for 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez. He was discovered missing from his home on Beaucaire Street in New Orleans at 10:00 a.m., yesterday, August 14, 2025. The Louisiana State Police received the request to issue a Level II on August 15, 2025, at approximately 1:39 a.m.

Vasquez is a Hispanic male with brown eyes and black hair. He is 5’1” and weighs between 86 and 100 pounds. He was last seen wearing an adult diaper and is believed to be walking in an unknown direction.

Vasquez suffers from a neurodevelopmental condition, is non-verbal, and does not understand English or Spanish.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Vasquez is asked to immediately contact the New Orleans Police Department, Seventh District, (504) 658-6070 or dial 911. All questions should be directed to the New Orleans Police Department.

During a Friday press conference in the New Orleans East neighborhood of Village de l'Est, officials from several law enforcement agencies said Vasquez was last seen at around 6:33 a.m. Thursday. He was nude, walking around the neighborhood, and appeared to be in distress.

Vasquez is non-verbal and autistic, and does not understand English or Spanish. He also takes medication, officers said.

They note there is a lot of water around the area, I wonder if he is drawn to water? I hope not.

Bryan is still missing

He looks so joyous as he is walking down the street. It breaks my heart that he is still missing. A person in the community that is working closely with his family said they need volunteers, gas for search vehicles, food and water for volunteers. people are gathering at 5300 Beaucaire St.

Here is another request: Elizabeth Campbell

The area is very swampy. They are having trouble searching the bayou right there because it is filled with swamp plants, which prevent any boat with motors. The Cajun Navy is apparently on their way. Texas Equusearch came, but couldn't search because of the water issue. Because he is nonverbal, he wouldn't be calling out. Plus now, having been 4 days without his seizure meds, he is likely having seizures, which regularly makes people, especially kids, sleep for large amounts of time to recover after. So they are searching blindly. He has not been seen as far as I know since Thursday at 5:28 am. Like on cameras or anything. And now Law Enforcement has scaled back. My heart is breaking for his mom and his community.

So much swamp! Do you sink when walking in it? Could he have gotten stuck? That's so horrible to type!

I’m sure the Cajun Navy will come with air boats that are better equipped to transverse swampy land. I’m from South LA and we have tons of marshes/swamps.

The search teams on Monday also included an airboat with sonar, bloodhounds from the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, the New Orleans Fire Department, officials from the St. Charles and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, as well as an army of community volunteers who've been combing the neighborhood looking for the boy with little to no sleep.

The United Cajun Navy is expected to join the hunt with thermal drones and additional dogs, according to President Todd Terrell.

The Vasquez family is holding out hope that Bryan Vasquez is alive. Hilda Vasquez has three other children, ages 11, 7 and 4 weeks old, according to Rosales-Fajardo.

"She's been not sleeping, just walking around and worried," Rosales-Fajardo said. "The 7-year-old has been screaming for his brother."

Volunteer search teams have been organizing near the intersection of Beaucaire and Lemans streets. Rosales-Fajardo said they are in need of more people to help knock on doors to get permission to search backyards.

The mom said that she discovered him missing at 10am and called the police and told them that he was a special needs child and he might be naked. She kept calling the police, but they didn't come. At 4pm she went to the police station and filed a report. The police finally came to her house at 8pm. Since then the police have kept in touch with her and she is grateful for what they have done.

It is horrifying to think that nearly 10 precious hours were lost from the time he was first reported missing until the PD began to search for him. Add to that, he left the house through a window 4-1/2 hrs before he was discovered missing, so by the time the search started almost 15 hours had passed. A neighbor's camera shows him leaving the house at 5:30pm, wearing only a diaper, and he was seen on another camera in the neighborhood at 6:33pm (and the diaper had been discarded.) After the search finally began, they seem to be doing everything that can be done to find him, but it will be a miracle if he is safely found. We've seen miracles before, so lets hope Bryan will be another.
