I came across Rhonda’s case while researching another missing person and was surprised by how little is known or shared about her.
Rhonda Dale Byers, also listed as Rhonda Phelps, disappeared sometime around January 1, 1981, from Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. The exact date may not be accurate, as many sources seem to use January 1 as a placeholder.
She was just 18 years old at the time.
Unfortunately, there are no publicly available photos of her close to the time she went missing—only childhood images, one of which has been enhanced. I've included them below.
Rhonda’s case is listed on NamUs (MP86044) and the Doe Network (4171DFAL), but beyond that, there’s almost no discussion or coverage of her disappearance. It’s really sad how some cases just seem to fall through the cracks.
