“A Missouri man has been arrested for torturing and killing more than a dozen cats that he bought or received for free on Craigslist.

Kaine Louzader, 20, who reportedly lives at his grandparents' home in St. Peters, Missouri, was arrested Friday and has since been charged with two counts of felony animal abuse by torture or mutilation, county court records show.”

This case really upset me because I love cats and all animals. He is definitely a future serial killer in the making and needs to be jailed for as long as possible. When he gets released he needs to be closely monitored.

IMO, this man should NOT get out. He WILL be a threat to people.

I really think that any missing person reports in his region from recent years need to be further investigated.

I cannot read, further than the headline, as feel so disgusted.
Hope he is punished severely, imprisoned and inmates get at this creep.

Sadly this case points to the profound danger to animals when naive persons offer them for adoption/inexpensive sale on services such as Craigslist, Nextdoor etc. It seems not a day goes by that I'm not sending someone a private message saying 'hey, don't give this critter to just anyone who replies, make sure you get vet refs or another character reference first, take an interview and an application, have the person interact with the animal in your presence, and tell them you'll get back to them in 48 hours.'

I know people inexperienced with animals can find surprise litters sprung on them when a stray they've befriended has kittens or puppies in their yard, and they don't know who to contact locally to aid them in the adoption process so they do the best they can with the advertising resources they're aware of. But this type of situation is a nightmare come true for animal advocates. The public needs educating that animal abuse is real and should be taken seriously by LE and the legal system as well as by any private citizen who becomes aware of it, whether it is perpetrated by a child of any age or an adult, as it is a significant predictor of future violent crimes by that person against vulnerable humans.

MOO, had to get this off my chest so I can possibly not have nightmares about these poor creatures tonight. :(

He might be safer if he is locked up than he would be on the street if some of the people who posted on his FB get a hold of him. I hope that Bible verse is NOT what he said to the poor cats before he .... not even going to say it. Don't want to think about it. Don't want to know about it. I HATE what he did to the cats.

Oh, Lordy, he was working in a hospital. Did he have contact with patients? He is such bad news, and I'm so thankful that he has been caught. Just think, he shopped for the kitties, went to pick them up, took them home, and killed them. Talk about premeditation. I feel like mankind has dodged a bullet. Can he be cured? Will they try? Why was he living with grandparents? Lots more questions.

My kitty cats are going to get extra treats today and I'm not going to tell them why.

I agree about handing over animals to just anyone.

We took a senior horse last fall because it was either us or "we will just list him for free on craigslist." He was skeletal and being ridden with them, I couldn't even imagine who might take him for free! He's the sweetest guy and healthy again. He absolutely loves us.

My cousin adopted a dog that was listed for free as well. Was terrified of who else might adopt it. So sad... I can only imagine any true animal lovers who gave him kitties seeing this. I would be completely horrified.

He's definitely a budding serial killer. Unfortunately I doubt he can be imprisoned long enough to make us happy.
