21-year-old Ole Miss student found dead in Northern Mississippi

Alexandria "Ally" Kostial, a 21-year-old student at Ole Miss, was found dead in Harmontown, Mississippi, over the weekend, the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department said.

[...]

Maj. Alan Wilburn said deputies discovered the body of a white woman while on routine patrol Saturday morning.

ilburn said in a statement that Lafayette County Sheriff's Department investigators were working with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, the Mississippi Crime Lab Crime Scene Unit, the University of Mississippi Police Department and Oxford Police Department.

"It is apparent that foul play was involved," he said.

Honestly, I would like to suggest that we not discuss the latest DM article. It is simply rumors from so called sources that do not want to be named.

I'll just scroll and roll...

Bringing this post over from the previous thread :
@beatrixpotter : "... Yes, are we allowed to discuss that the MSM article says she was trying to end her pregnancy with alcohol and drug use? It's pretty scandalous but we've always been able to discuss DM on here before. But she's a victim so does that mean we can't discuss anything that is bad regarding the victim? It didn't sound very credible to ME though that a woman would refuse an abortion on moral grounds while simultaneous trying to induce one on her own. I wonder if that's just gossip. And then of course that's the case what is any of the other info regarding her being pregnant but gossip? But on the other hand this trashy tabloid isn't usually grossly inaccurate. "

Since the DM is allowed as a valid msm source, I'd expect there to be a grain of truth in their articles.
Back a few years on this site, a poster stated that they fact checked the DM and found that that source wasn't far off the mark.

I'd be nice to find another msm source re. Ally's being pregnant.
Going to wait for another news source.
So we wait.

I'm fearing that this killer may get off with a slap on the wrist as his defense will try to prove it was just a 'heat of the moment' attack.
Whatever.
Murder is still murder.

Shots all to torso and abdomen are going to be damning considering Ally was pregnant.

Heat of the moment? He shot the gun eight times! One would think that first shot would have brought him back to reality. No way.

Not sure I have the stomach to follow this one. Can't even bring myself to read the DM article. Does Mississippi like some other Southern states, have laws that prosecute women for harming unborn children? If so, then I expect that's where the defense will head down the victim blaming path. I'm out if this case is going to go down abortion rabbit holes. (Not saying the posters here would, but media, etc.).

The Daily Mail article has horrible contradictions and inconsistencies that it does nothing to reconcile or verify.
For example, it says she told him she was pregnant that day, but is also says he had been pressuring her to have an abortion for weeks, and it says her "friends" had screen shots of old text messages supposedly from her to him about being pregnant.
As others said, it says she was adamant about keeping the baby and not having an abortion, but then it says she had been drinking and taking drugs hoping to lose the baby. That is an outrageous thing to print with nothing but gossip to back it up.

I can't even fathom a defense trying to say that she got drunk so it justified shooting her in the abdomen 8 times. I don't know of any actual laws in the South that prosecute any woman for abortion either though I've heard rumor of attempts to pass some and claims that that was what the laws would do. But then I've heard that didn't accurately represent the laws. But even IF such a law existed in the state of Mississippi it would have absolutely no bearing on someone shooting her and killing her.

I mean blame her for trying and failing to do so and so exonerate him for successfully doing it? Naah....

Exactly !

Wait, what? The article doesn't even make sense.
So, she refused to get an abortion because she didn't "believe in that", but then she was trying to get an abortion by abusing drugs and alcohol? What? I mean, is this some sick joke?

I have to believe you are right, but this is the case I was thinking of that is making me worry. It's in Alabama, but still. Basically the woman got in a fight with someone (oh, the baby daddy?) who shot her in the stomach and she lost the baby and is being charged, but not the shooter.

Why killing unborn child can be considered murder in Mississippi

From the DM article:

"The Office of the Lafayette County Coroner told DailyMailTV: 'The initial examination of the autopsy of Alexandria Kostial was performed. The additional ballistic, trace and comparative testing is not complete. The final complete autopsy report will not be issued by the State Medical Examiner until all evidence is processed and analyzed.'

It is not known when they final autopsy report will be completed."

So does this mean they haven't matched the bullets to his gun yet?? What the heck??

This is just an unidentified friend's opinion. I think the point was she wanted the baby but continued to drink and/or do drugs, not that she was trying to abort the baby in that manner. Still feels like an attack on the victim, but it could be true or not.

JMO and all that jazz, but what about that part being just the beginning of trying to blame the victim? I have heard rumors since this happened, but that one is not one of them. Its a brand spanking new one.
Edited to add: New to me

I cannot imagine a friend of hers making that statement. JMO.

I can understand why the so-called friend who was the source of the claims in the Daily Mail article does not want to be identified. Some friend to sell out Ally’s memory like that. The only folks that needed to hear this story are LE.

Agreed. It makes me question if the unnamed person quoted is her friend or even knew her.
