Carest Junior Spellman (Buddy) 48, of the Chapanoke area Hertford, NC, has been missing since 12/14/2024. Spellman was last seen in the Elizabeth City area on that date. An active missing person investigation is still ongoing to find Spellman being led by the Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with information relating to this missing persons report we encourage to contact the Perquimans County Sheriff’s Office at 252-426-5615.

Search for missing man picks up momentum in Elizabeth City

An investigation was underway in Elizabeth City Thursday in connection with a missing persons case that's been open since last December, according to Perquimans County Sheriff Shelby White.

Sheriff White says investigators were at 1831 West Ehringhaus Street following up on a lead Thursday afternoon (June 19.) That's near Ollie's and Planet Fitness.

Sheriff White did not share what the lead entailed, but he did confirm that the investigators on Ehringhaus Street Thursday are working on Spellman's missing persons case.

She (his mom) said she was present during the law enforcement search and described the day as long and stressful. Ms. Spellman indicated that authorities informed her a phone had been located. Additionally, she mentioned that her son was with other family members the night he disappeared.

His judicial history goes back many years, but one case is pending and that is a concern IMO. A criminal complaint was filed against an individual (the missing Mr. Spellmen was the complainant) for "Communicating Threats" (threats made against the missing man) Case is still pending.

Pior to that there were a number of cases, asssault on a female, breaking and entering, possession of cocaine, failure to report an accident, resisting arrest, larceny, assault, assault of a government official, ficticious name to LE, and communicating threats but this one was the most serious (though it's over 20 years old).
