“What can I tell you? We’re distraught,” Angel Mendoza’s father said.

Mendoza was beaten over the head with a skateboard and then stabbed to death.

His family said he was a “quiet kid” who did not ebother anyone.

Mendoza was confronted by an angry mob of over a dozen young people last night in Williamsbridge Oval Playground.

The spot where he was sitting is now marked by candles.

“They stood him up and threw him down and started stabbing him,” Mendoza’s friend said.

I don't live near the park, but have visited several times for kids' sports and other events. I have never had a bad vibe there, though I don't know the surrounding area, tbh, and I've only visited during daytime when it is active and family-friendly.
